I have a very small sample size (my German friends) who all know Mayweather lol.
Everyone in Europe knows who Floyd Mayweather. Eastern Europeans in particular are crazy about him.

I think it depends on country.

In US Floyd is recognized by many casuals, I don't doubt it.
In Philippines every person knows Manny Pacquiao.
In Eastern Europe it's different. Here every casual knows Klitchkos (very few casuals know Floyd or Manny. When I talk about casuals, I mean people who don't follow sport - not boxing fans or people who watch boxing from time to time).

I think in Britain there's another situation.

But universal Ali or Tyson-like recognizement? I can't name any boxer.

I think everyone in Philippines know more than enough about Mayweather at this stage lol. 6 year saga and then a loss to (unfortunately) deal with.

    Yes that's true :)

I'd like to find who is the most popular boxer of all time (and most popular current boxer) in China and India (2,7 bln citizens combined).

Zhou Shiming had 36.5m viewing his fight in China lol. It's got to be Ali I think.

In England every body would recognise frank Bruno , as well as fights he's done tons of hp sauce ads. Years ago it was Henry Cooper, for the after shave adverts, along side Kevin keegan I believe. Some people may have recognised the two walking down the road but nothing like the UK. In America now, that's a hard question. Leonard has to be up there. Most generations up to the 90 s remember him and after he did the contender for a while. Perhaps the last few years he's faded but still recognised by the public surely.

Chris Eubank is a household name in the UK Also. Always being taken off by impersonators. and desperately seeking the lime light through his son

I was over in London on vacation in the early 2000s, staying in a hotel in Paddington. Was just taking a stroll around the area and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Eubank walking up and down in the main train station terminal. He was dress in a brown tweed jacket, knee high boots and carrying some kind of cane. He stood out a mile and was getting a lot of tourists taking pictures of him. It was kind of weird as he didn't seem to be waiting for a train or meeting anyone there.Just walking around like he was just trying to attract attention. I guess he really missed the spotlight after his boxing career finished so now having his son being a fairly high profile boxer must really be like a godsend to him.

LOL. Good story Can just imagine Eubank doing that. Not a bad fighter and brought a lot of publicity to boxing in the early 90 s, but what a poser.
