1 - Jermain Taylor 2 - Andre Dirrell 3 - Andre Ward 4 - Allan Green 5 - Jeff Lacy / Jaidon Codrington As one can see I've lost all respect for Lacy and I've got him hovering somewhere in between fringe contender/gatekeeper status. He's one devastating shutout loss from being a journeyman/club fighter.
I would say Dirrell Ward Taylor by a hair over Green. Without the meltdowns it would be Taylor. Green I think is the biggest strongest of the bunch. Ward the most complete, and Dirrell the most talented.
Andrade is American as well ... and he's #1 American super middleweight ... next in line is; Dirrell Green Ward Taylor
I think Green, Dirrell, and Ward are the elite level fighters. Contender level fighters are Andrade. Club fighter is Lacy and Taylor, Taylor is done.
First off Andrade's a Mexican. I don't care how many years he's put in in the states, he's a Mexican. Second of all, he's the only one of the people mentioned who actually has an even worse skillset than Miranda. Now that's an accomplishment. We all know he has at least five times the beard of Miranda but a beard alone a #1 American Super Middleweight does not make.
Now wait just a minute. Now say what you will about Taylor (and I usually do) but he ain't no goddam Club Fighter. A rockhead (not in the narcotics sense), yes. A 10 round fighter, yes. An unrefined talent, yes. But a club fighter, no! Either way he takes out all of the people named from Dirrell all the way down to Andrade.
This is a lively and, of course, topical question. While Taylor's overall career accomplishments make him attractive, at 168 he has a wide but boring victory over a not so great Jeff Lacy and a meltdown TKO loss to Froch. What keeps him in the top ten is how good he looked in the first half of that fight. With that said, and trying to equally account for both talent and accomplishment, my rankings would go as follows: Ward Dirrell Taylor Green I feel weird ranking those two above him, but I just can't get over how bad his stamina is in 12 round fights.
