In light of recent results, who do you consider to be the best American heavyweight right now, September 2013?

It's probably Chris Arreola, when he's in better shape like last Saturday.

    Agree?

Why do people think Arreola was in better shape? He's always in that shape and that fight would've likely gone the same way at any point. Arreola is a horrible match up for Mitchell. Just horrible. Arreola is still the same guy. He's still got a good chin, he's still a good, aggressive banger, but still flabby with little defence to speak of. Er-of which to...speak...of-no-with...with which to speak. Dammit.

Arreola or Thompson but if Wilder doesnt get exposed in the near future and his power is as real as we may be led to believe he might move to 1

Im doing my best to not over rate Saturdays blowout as most probably saw that coming seeing as Mitchell doesnt take a punch well and Arreola will land early and expose that sort of thing

Arreola isnt the best around but takes a good shot and delivers a good shot and has gotten his weight out of the 250's and has been progressively seeming more dedicated

I would have said Thompson as a lock but he looked old and lost vs Pulev in a non effort sort of performance

then again Thompson like Arreola recently made waves by beating guys who are most likely frauds without much merit, great wins on paper that mean a lot less in practicality

probably Wilder in a year or 2 if not rushed in with Wlad but he probably will

Age 31 Gerald Washington is 9-0. He's ranked as the #25 US heavyweight on BoxRec.

Dominic Breazeale has excellent potential, but he has only 6 pro fights and so is unproven at this time.

The top 3 in no order:
TT - well over 40 and w/the loss to Pulev is past it.

CA - got the expected win in dramatic fashion over a hype job.

DW - no doubt has power, but has fought nothing but tomato cans except for 2 washed up name opponents.

Has Jennings gone into witness protection? :p
At this moment, the best US HW might just be Chris Arreola :huh yep :yep

it's embarrasing when your best HW is an obese light heavyweight

the age of Bowe Holyfield is a distant dream at best

Tough call, you can make an argument that Thompson still is. Potential wise i think Jennings and Wilder are the top US heavies.
