Is it just me or is this thread ****ing stupid.

Does any True boxing fan know of any boxer in the world that is not athletic.

    Except James Toney and Butterbean.

This thread was made to say wins against Hatton, Cotto, Barrera, Clottey, Morales, Marquez are no big deal because they are not quick guys.

No most of them are not quick guys.

But they are all ****ing athletic. They all have huge amounts of stamina.

Poster above by the name of Hot Dog wrote Pacquiao has never beaten a boxer like Corrales or Gatti. Well no he hasnt he has beaten better boxers than them 2.

FFS this thread is a poor poor attempt for me to bring a fighter that we as boxing fans should feel lucky to get after Roy Jones Jr down fall in Boxing.

I think you may misunderstand the question, then. Pacquiao relies a lot on his athletic gifts to win against fighters who are not as gifted. He is not a textbook fighter. Some of his opposition may be TECHNICALLY more sound (JMM springs to mind). But, Pacquiao is faster (stronger, particularly, at the lighter weights), and able to do things with his body, in the ring, they are not able to. He is quite special in that way.

The question is basically...who has he fought, who has notable athletic ability?

Yup...and could the 2006 version of Pac handle that? I'm not sure. In 2008, a less powerful JMM, had him doing the mambo, and sh\t. He was also more limited back then. If he could weather one of those shots from Zab, and some of the others, he might break Zab down. But, it's not a given, IMO.

I tell you who most the fighters below Featherweight that he fought were athletes.

Most all had speed and not Power.

    Ledwaba
    Hussien
    Singsurat
    Lucero
    Barrera
    Sasakul

**** all them had fast hands i feel most fighters below Lightweight have ****ing fast hands and are athletes.

The best all around athlete's are the best boxers, so its a stupid question Technique and Mentality is athleticism too Imo, Usain Bolt would'nt be World Record holder if he had **** Technique or Mentality. Usafa Powell and Zab judah both poor mentally (never lived up to it on the big stage) they lost to guys that were better All round

Marquez or Morales. IMO Marquez is still his biggest name of a win. He was in prime and awesome.

Yes and No. There is SHEER athletic prowess and there is "Technique and Mentality". More fighters have Technique and Mentality, than they do sheer athletic ability. It's the fighters that have found a balance between the two, that are most successful for a longer period.

Zab is an example of an A+ talent (mostly based on his athletic ability and technique), but, a B-/B fighter because of his mentality.

Andre Berto is an example of a fighter who depends more on his athleticism, speed and power. While JMM is an example of a fighter who depends on his technique and mentality.

So, in a sense, the question posed is how many Andre Berto types has Pac beaten in his career? Or rather, who was the most athletically dominant fighter Pac has defeated? I don't think it's a stupid question, or one hard to understand. Boxing analysts categorize certain types of fighters as athletic or technicians. They classified Roy Jones as a superior athlete, and Bernard Hopkins as a technician, cagey veteran, and defensive wizard.

No dick, that wasn't the intent, the intent was to get an idea from "the people" as to who the best athlete Pac ever beat. No more, no less, now what it's turned into because of butt hurt sissy's who automatically go into ultra defense mode, is far less than what was intended. For the record I was very clear in outlining what was meant by athletic, you choose not to acknowledge that.

No it's not a stupid question, there is a clear difference between Zab Judah, Berto, Pac, Gamboa, PBF level athletes in the ring verses guys like Pavlik, Margarito, etc. There is a clear difference in athletic ability if you are unable to differentiate between the two then it's not the question that is stupid...
