Rigo hasn't fought the quality fighters Gamboa has. Their styles couldn't be more different. Rigo tho is by far the more cerebral. Hasnt been tested like Gamboa has so we don't know how he'll handle getting rocked or knocked down. I'd say Rigo better boxer Gamboa better fighter.

Rigondeux is better. He has better defense, and better all around boxing skills. He is just as fast as Gamboa, just as powerful, but slicker.

I agree but I think Gamboa is faster. Didn't expect Rigo to win the poll, I think it has to do with the fact that Gamboa is not World Champion anymore and Rigo is and that Gamboa hasn't fought in many many months.

Very tough one to call. EL Chacal looks to be better schooled and technicaly better, but that is probably because he has not been tested in the manner Gamboa has. Gamboa has accomplished more as a pro, that's not to say Rigon can't surpass him. But as of now I'll pick Gamboa for having the better resume.

I guess you missed when Cordoba punched Rigo and he went down and then proceeded to run and win on points.

The OP asked who is the 'best'. Best technically is Rigo easily. Best in excitement/competition is Gamboa.

Great asessment, let's keep in mind that Rigo was the best amateur in the World for his entire career which lasted for about 10 years. As an amateur Gamboa was very close to Rigo's achievements but let's talk pro boxing ...

As a pro I think Gamboa has developed more and is more naturally gifted but Rigo is way more schooled in the art of Cuban boxing specialist. While Rigo is not as fast as Gamboa he makes it up with his crisp accuracy, awesome defense, counter punching ability and those 1 punch body KO's...

I agree that Gamboa is definitely more exciting to watch and Rigo is more for the true followers of the sweet science at it's best.

So the question here really is: Who will be more successful as a pro whether exciting or not?

    :huh

Gamboa....he's got more fire....Rigo's better technically but hasn't the shown the heart/determination/will of an elite champ and he's only getting older and fighting nobodies before we know it he'll be 36 and retired with a record of 14-1 or some **** vs virtually nobody of importance. Gamboas on the fast track to top 5 p4p, I doubt we'll ever see rigo there.
