To be honest I wrote that stupid comment because I cant be arsed using my shitty phone to have an intelligent discussion on a forum. I'm sorry for the insult, it was uncalled for.
No problem. At least you didn't insult my mother. lol As adult boxing fans, most of us are on here to respectfully exchange opinions with each other. Looking forward to more discussions with you in the future even if we happen to disagree.
In my opinion it's a pick between SRR, Duran and Greb. I went with Greb. I think RJJ could have done more with what he had, and I do use that as a determining factor, but athletically I'd pick him and Ali over any of them. I could also see a case for Louis, Langford, and Fitzsimmons on that list as well, they certainly ranks higher than Floyd.
This is utter bull. Why? because his offense is nothing special at all. I'd certainly rank SRL ahead of him, he pretty much had it all, he had great defense, offensive, power, grit etc. Like Leonard said himself after losing to Duran, I went from being a boxer to having to become a fighter. Duran had a far better over all skill set than Floyd has. Guys like Arcel, Gil Clancey, and Angelo Dundee just to name a few marvelled at his over all skill level, including being able to roll with punches, feint, and transition from offense to defense in a millisecond. And although I haven't seen as much as SRR I'm going to assume he had far more skills than Floyd, otherwise he wouldn't be ranked where he is. You don't get to the very top without having grade A skills. Guys like Ali and RJJ were able to cover their flaws with their great athletic abilities but being athletic is also part of the skill set boxers have.
robinson had speed, power, heart, a chin, unbelieveable stamina and beautiful combinations. he was the ultimate fighting machine
