If its `who achieved the most` then its between Hughes, Couture & Gracie but I thought you meant `who was the greatest MMA fighter.`
to hard to say as of now, but with regards to the fighters who are coming towards the end of their careers id pick hughes or maybe couture.
Gsp by a landslide.Overall more wins under the ufc against top opponents. surprise that Couture is not 2nd.
dominant against rich franklin!! whereas lidell was dominant against the likes of couture, ortiz, sobral, horn, silva, overeem, belfort, mezger, bustamante, randleman etc all i think of when i think of anderson is franklin,a 40 year old henderson and travis lutter! "p4p no.1" f...off! surprised no ones picked lidell in the poll,he was the cross over guy to the mainstream and at his peak was an awesome fighter, gone off the boil now though.
yeah its stupid he dont have vote, its like we judge Holyfield based on all his recent loss. Liddell, in his prime, was one of the best evers.
Wow, I'm the only vote for Chuck? Seems like resent victories and matches hang heavy on the minds of posters here. Chuck was dominate with some very impressive wins, in his prime people went to sleep when they stepped into the ring with him. Or maybe I just didn't put enough thought into the question. As far as legacies and competition Chuck I'd think is way ahead of the pack.
Chucks the most popular ever The greatest in UFC ever, most likely Randy The best now GSP The best fighters but lack tenure Silva, Machida
GSP & Frank Shamrock were likely the most complete, they knew submissions, wrestling & how to strike with both hand & foot + both were always in top notch condition. St. Pierre obviously has more fights & wins but was finished himself a few times, Frank finished all his opponents inside the distance (4 tap outs & 1 KO) Frank usually fought bigger men or at the very least was never the much larger guy, having more than 5 fights in the UFC would certainly have helped his case but we can only go on what we have & there might never have been a more impressive champion at their peak than Shamrock, he had everything.
So you think at some point Couture was better then GSP is now? :-( Couture was never as good as GSP is right now, nobody has been. Couture got Knocked out by Liddell, tried to avenge and got owned again. GSP has 3 marks against him: Loss to Hughes, Loss to Serra, controversial SD win over Penn. He has since dominated every single onee of those fighters to leave no question that he is the supreme man in that octogan. There's no question here, I feel.
I think when you take the wins in Big Fights and Aura or the fighter, Captain America may have a case. It also helped that he was due to lose in some fights and pulled it out. He was also able to utilize his expertise in fights so theres skill. IM talking about the greatest in History. Case in point, if Randy stops now hes up there and if GSP loses his next fight, he wont even be mentioned in the top 3
Gotcha I'm looking at it more as a "freeze a guy in time and space and see how good he is at that point". I'm saying that GSP at the top of his game, is more capable and all around a greater fighter then anyone else in UFC history. Accomplishments, being ignored.
