In the 3 years I have been on here , this is the most enjoyable post I have read. x 2 on getting fired talking to Ali, I wouldnt care , just the greatest of all time.
Thanks got alot more just gave brief lines on some of the fighters.... Ive told the Ali one here many times in depth... I asked Ali if i was a fighter what my nickname would be if i was an opponent he was studying me and i was laughing he said in his distinctive Ali voice " I call you the BEAVER!!" Guess it was my over bite ... My son always asks be to tell him the story and he cant stop calling me the beaver for days after telling him the story for the 10th time..... I was standing and talking to him off and on for hours as i was one of the controling the lines coming into the store... Every Dark skinned black guy that walked in Ali would go into a rant and start callling them Joe Fraiza!! And every big white guy was Jerry Quarry Was fired the next day didnt regret it.. The only thing i regretted was a lady customer took pics of me and Ali and said shed comeback and give them to me.. But since i was no longer employed i never received them, even when asking former employees they said she never dropped them off.:verysad But i still got the KO magazine Ali signed (he was on the cover). Ali was already suffering badly from Parkinsons(but not near as bad as now). But he was still flicking jabs (suprisingly fast and still strong) and performiing magic tricks and showing his great sense of humor, taking pics with babys and fans. He did this for hours, Ali still had all his brains it was just his low speech and nervous system that were suffering this was in 1993.
I was there when Trinidad won the Championship knocking out Maurice Blocker at the San Diego Sports Arena 1993
Floyd Mayweather Jr's comeback fight vs. Juan Manuel Marquez. Also saw some great fighters on the undercard.
Sorry hadn't checked this in a while. The second Castillo-Corrales. I asked my friend if he wanted to go to the first and he said, nah, we'll catch it on tv ... ARGHGHGHGHGHGH I knew it was going to be a great fight, and it was so empty. Pac-Morales I had the best atmosphere of any fight, all the crazy Mexican and cute little Filipino fans having fake arguments in the stands, it was awesome, probably the best atmosphere of any event I can imagine. And it kind of stuttered in the middle when there was a big gap between the undercards and the televised portion, but the last two fights were sick awesome!!!!! Wow!
Yey and also live in Cali which has had countless great fighters and fight venues over the years.. Im also only a 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive from Las Vegas. Been a fan for over 30+ and boxed as a youngster in various Los Angeles gyms(rich with talent),also use to go to the Annuall WBHOF banquet every year ... Over that time and my love for boxing ive been fortunate to meet numerous fighters and rub shoulders with them... WHere as i dont think someone who lives in Montana,South Dakota,Wyoming or many other states wouldnt have those opprotunities.. I guess its where you live in the states and how long you have been around. Its not like i met those guys over a few years time span, but it adds up thru the years.
No sir, as much as I respect the other Mr. White, my avatar name is in fact my own name in real life. I figured there is no reason to hide it on esb, even after I make my mark on the boxing world, I will still come here and post with you guys all the same.:good
