Lewis took Vitali's ,Morrison's and Bruno's punches ok I have a feeling he would cope with a 37 years old Walcott's and a 39 years old Moore's.Or do you think they hit harder than Vitali,Tommy and Bruno?

True Seamus..however the foreman at 235 at that time when over the hill Qawi fought him was much better than the 220 Foreman of 70's and Frazier who was 20 pounds overweight ,and it wasn't lopsided as you think.Qawi had skills and while both old ,Foreman again was a real HW and was actually better in the late 80's/early 90's than his 70's era.

Tubbs showed his worth (one punch and down) and I never thought much of him, Tucker actually nailed Mike and they made that silent agreement to go the distance. Thomas was shot by then (heroin in the arm)

Qawi was also 38 years old and fat and at 5'6 he was catching Foreman with some good right hands, Qawi did not have big power but he got the punches in, I was surprised that a 5'6 guy, who was overweight did so well

When will you idiots drop the narrative that Qawi was even in that fight. He wasn't close to winning. He couldn't hurt Foreman with a 2x8 so old George waded in and clumsily battered Qawi down until he didn't want anymore.

Watch that fight again. Seriously. The sh*t you people are making up to fit your own fairy tales is just downright embarrassing.

One guy is saying that Qawi was ahead on the cards... when he wasn't.

Another claims Qawi was 38... when he was 35 (and ignores Big George was knocking on 40 after a 10 year layoff)

Good lord, people. Get your sh*t straight.

I watched the fight and Qawi hit him with many right hands and Dwight was also past his best days and at 5'5 5"6 much overweight, now the point is Foreman got hit with right hands, too bad Qawi could not really hit hard. Foreman was open to right hands and yes I also dont consider Lyle an elite puncher, I know he is big and that means a lot to you idiots

Was Qawi ahead on the scorecards?

    Was Qawi 38 years old?

Have you ever seen a fighter realize his opponent can't really hurt him and walk though his punches to land his own?

Just watched it, George ignored Qawi's shots.

Don Cokkell beat better men over 200lb than Qawi ever did. However well qawi did losing to George Foreman he still lost. Therefore, at heavyweight Don Cokkell was a better heavyweight. That's all there is to it.

And he did not see many of those punches come his way either. That would be more concerning against a better puncher. George's defence was pretty good so Qawi did well landing. Skrap Iron Johnson did too years earlier. For as long as it lasted Ted Gullick also landed well on Foreman.

Qawis prime was in the early 80's,you don't know what you are talking about.Foreman improved and had reach,a out of prime swarmer who has to duck punches on the inside is obviously at a disadvantage vs a 6'3 fighter who hits like a jack hammer. The foreman fight only shows ghow good Qawi really was,for being a natural cruiserweight.

I think you're getting carried away here and relying too heavily on after-the-fact rationalizations. Qawi was up at least 3-2 after winning round 5, and anybody watching the fight live would have recognized that he was clearly in it, even if the odds were still against him. He landed plenty of clean, sharp power punches to Foreman's eyes and face, including several that snapped his head. Foreman was never hurt but if the next 5 rounds had gone as the first 5 had, he would have lost the fight. Other than the ridiculous kidney punch that he got away with, he really wasn't having much success hurting Qawi until he took over and Qawi gassed in the 6th. It was still early enough in Foreman's comeback that it was far from clear whether he would even have the stamina to outlast a fat, out-of-shape Qawi or smarts to deal with Qawi's craftiness.

"foreman in his 40's would have given ali a better fight,he became a thinker and picked his shots which also helped his stamina,he slowed a bit but he timed his punches better and shortened his punches" Angelo Dundee

"I was a one trick pony in my youth,i became also smarter and stronger in my comeback,i did strongman training and lifted weights,i neber trained seriously as a young man,i skipped rope a bit and only hit the heavy bag for a half hour or so" G.Foreman

Gil Clancey and Archie moore both former trainers of his also said the 91 Foreman who fought holyfield was an improvent over 70's foreman.

One has to just use common sense and see 40 year old foreman had a much better chin/stamina and power, why most think a sloppy bad stamina ,predictable 70's foreman is remotely better is beyond me,he couldn't even defeat J.Young even though he fought smarter than he did with Ali. and was even dropped once. :blackeye
