I think he's near the bottom of the list of great heavies head-to-head, but not many cruisers are beating him that's for sure.

    Several would beat him.

Shouldn't this be the worst fighter that you would pick to beat him?

Yep. A lot more fun than picking the best that would beat him. I'd pick just about all the great HW's that came after him to beat him.

    But the worst? :think:D

Seeing as Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali are generally regarded as the top 2 heavyweights of all time, I would say that Rocky has a great chance of beating both of them. Louis actually lost to Marciano saying ' He doesn't fight by the book but he hits you with a whole library' Ali said 'Marciano would be a harder fight than Frazier for me'

Quote from Jersey Joe Walcott after being asked who hit harder Louis or Marciano: ' Louis was more skilled with combinations and was the greatest finisher in the history of heavyweight boxing, once he had you hurt it was all over. I'd say that in terms of single shots Marciano hit harder, he had no finesse but it was like being hit with a baseball bat.'

Frank Bruno, and even then it is not a given that Marciano beats him. About evenly matched for speed and skill, and no doubt Frank hits as hard, if not harder.

But Bruno at his best is about Marciano's level.

I always refer to folks who go by the names such as "Brock Rock", "Suzie Q" ,"49-0", "IROCK" in these situations.

Thus, I would say Foreman and Liston at the same time.

They're the only voices that come close to being objective on these matters.

lol Marciano demonstrated defensive and offensive skills against Moore in 55 that Bruno could only dream of

You don't have a good eye for identifying skills

You look for only textbook skills . You don't see the little things Marciano did that made him so good because you don't have a good eye

He could theoretically beat quite a few champs and top contenders, Schmeling,Sharkey, Baer,Tom Sharkey,Burns,Hart both Spinks,Patterson, Ingo, I wouldn't pick him to beat Dempsey but many would.
He beats Valdes,Henry,Baker, Walls and all the others of his era he missed .
I'm not sure I would pick him to beat prime versions of Walcott Charles and Moore.:think

A prime Tyson eats him for lunch. Rocky doesn't survive that kind of foot and handspeed, coupled with that kind of power, long enough to lay his plan for victory.
