I think you have to give the benefit of the doubt to Fury. Yet I keep hearing nonsense hyping up Joshua, Wilder, and Ortiz, which I think is manifestly ridicuolus. Let's review the candidates and have a vote: Tyson Fury Went into the lion's den and unseated an ATG champion with 18 defenses. The biggest man of quality in the division at 6'9" with an 85 inch reach, his main thing is his ambidextrous boxing which totally confused Wlad. Wlad Klitschko A lot of people think he is going to win the rematch. He is still powerful, and is still the guy who defended his title 18 times. But he is 40 years old and it shows. What is more, his jab and grab style simple doesnt work agaisnt the awkward, switch hitting Fury. Deontay Wilder A complete joke who is manifestly on about the same level as Scoiners, Molina and Duahapuas. Beat a fraud champion in Stiverne and did not do as well as Demetirce King, nor even put him down as Rossy did. This guy is a joke. Anthony Joshua A couple of posters have said things such as: "Fury can't beat Joshua," apparently unaware that Joshua's people have admitted that he needs at least another year and a half before he can even get in the ring with the big Gypsy. Luis Ortiz I was very big on this guy before the steroids scandal. He is big, hard hitting, a southpaw and has had something like 350 amatuer fights. He is also a 36 year old steroids abuser who's big reputation comes from beating a quality janitor. I could see him pulling off an upset--but more likely I see him falling flat on his face when he actually fights someone. Alexander Povetkin The consensus #2 before the big upset, it is a matter of record that Sascha has re-tooled his style and is hitting with crazy power these days. However, seems to be me he is just too small for the Furious one if Fury boxes. David Haye Either Haye's injuries were real and he has a gimmpy arm or they were fake and he was just afraid to fight Fury. Either way, it doesn't look good for a prospective match up with Fury. Joseph Parker A little on the small side for Fury and not ready yet, nonetheless has good skills and power. Winner of Glazkov-Martin Can't see anyone voting for this guy, whomever it might be, but since one of them is going to be a "champion," lets have the option. Other Helenius? Chagaev? Ibeabucchi? Hugh Fury? Name him. All right. Lets vote
1 Fury 2 Kiltschko 3 Povetkin 4 Ortiz 5 Joshua 6 Wilder 7 Parker 8 Pulev, Glazkov, Martin, Browne, Chagaev etc. etc. who cares? If we get those 7 fighting each other for the next 3 years, the heavy division will come alive Just put any 2 names together and tell me you wouldn't watch it; Fury Ortiz Povetkin Wilder Joshua Parker Klitschko Ortiz Joshua Fury Wilder Parker etc. etc.
out of respect i give number 1 to Fury then Klit, then Sasha and Wilder,,, in the future i really think AJ and or Parker have enough potential to go past all four of the guys i already mentioned. oh yeah Ortiz is right there as well at number 5 for me currently.
What Fury did was impressive and he deserves his rightful credit... but I'm not so sure we should write Wladimir Klitschko off just yet. I, for one, am not writing him off by any means. Their rematch should be highly anticipated.
Fury is for now. But a year or two from now the likes of AJ and Parker are likely to be dominating the landscape.
I still say Wlad. He'll rectify things in the Fury rematch. Regardless Ortiz, Povetkin, Wilder, Joshua and Parker beat Fury yet I doubt all of them would beat Wlad. Boxing is weird like that.
If he fights every round like he did the 12th he KO's Fury, I rewatched the fight yesterday, even when Wlad was supposedly hurt, it was more of a balance issue coupled with Fury pushing him with a punch, I doubt Fury can KO Wlad if he gets aggressive.
i am not agreeing that vlad can win the rematch, i am undecided about that for now, however, i agree that Fury doesn't have killer power in his blows :good
The standard of HW boxing is low right now. You have to seriously consider Joshua and Wilder now. Because they're not fat, they're not old and they have power.
