Who is the best modern heavyweight (90s and onward) that you would pick Rocky Marciano to beat?

I can accept that Tua was unlucky to share an era with Lennox Lewis.

I don't think that he was unlucky to share an era with Chris Byrd, and Hasim Ramhan.

Those are the kind of guys that you have to beat to win the title in any era.

Those guys would win a belt in a lot of eras.

    And Tua beat Rahman.

Yes, but they would have been considered weak champions in any era.
    Not when it really counted!

Either would be seen as a revelation during any era pre-1960. Give me a break.

    I rather doubt it.

None would be what they were because they would look totally different. They all be thirty poinds lighter. Baker and Nino by your estimation would should have been dominant but were only decent contenders of their eras. If also make them fifty fifty against the likes of Tua and Rahman. And id pick Archie to embarrass them.

Man if people in the 1930’s saw this fight:

    This content is protected

They would change everything they thought about boxing. I mean look at Rahmans next level....something. And watch how Corrie Sanders totally revolutionizes....that thing.

Godfrey would go back to the drawing board and change his whole style to....something remarkable. I just can’t quite explain it.

You saw how ummm.......Rahmans left foot is exactly 2 degrees from a perfect pythagorean of the delta between the velocity of his wrist rotation??? Yeah...they really wouldn’t comprehend it anyway. Oh! And the double jab! You see that double jab!? Blackburn would question his whole existence.

Not sure if you quite understand. Some of the smaller fighters had some skills. Like Sharkey could move his head a bit, that’s pretty cool, sure.

But the big guys of the era?? Well, none of them could box! They were circus clowns and strongman freaks, y’see?? Only after a specific year in time did big boxers develop skills. The secrets of this revelation are written in the book of scriptures buried deep beneath the sea.

Before then it was impossible. The same trainers who trained smaller fighters just couldn’t get the big guys to do certain things with their bodies! Arcel would tell Carnera “jab!” And Carnera would throw a right uppercut. It was a mess y’see?

Marciano is the only fighter in history who’s not allowed to gain weight. He was already a butterbean balloon at 155lb.

He was what he was. A short, stubby, bird-chested fighter with no handspeed or balance who has no analogy at the elite level in the division over the past 50 years.

He would trip on his own shoe laces, and accidentally KO people on the way down.

Weight bullying is pretty common now so it’s not crazy to think that he would boil down in a modern era

People said all the same things about him in his own era, but I guess he proved the doubters wrong.

Could go either way. He would follow the money though in any circumstance. Was obsessed with cash and fame and reaching the pinnacle.
