The only reason why we're saying Ward or Kovalev is because we don't know enough about Carlos Cuadras. Cuadras may end up as a great fighter.

I'd say Roman Gonzalez because Ward didn't beat Kovalev in a convincing way whatsoever, with many thinking Kovalev won. IF Ward is P4P no.1, then a victory over Cuadras in the rematch would put Roman Gonzalez back at no.1.

Hmmm....who has done more in recent years--Andre Ward or Roman Gonzalez?

If you don't know the answer to that...

They were quite even that night. Had it same as the judges but i don´t really see it as a great victory. Felt more like a draw.
I really hope the rematch happens soon.

Whether you think it's a robbery or not it was a tight fight and most agreed with the idea that the winner for this is the p4p king so it has to be ward until the rematch. If Kovalev had won a 114-113 decision most of you would call him no.1

In my eyes the fight was a very close Kovalev win, however he appeared a little bigger than Ward on fight night, so I'll put them joint #1 a la Rumsfield.

If Ward beats Kovalev in the rematch, which he is favoured to do, then he becomes clear #1 by himself.

    1. Kovalev
    2. Ward

Kovalev beat Ward but Ward is smaller so there's not a lot in it.

Everyone will probably overtake Ward when he doesn't fight again for 2 years.

This weekend we get to see the one true talent in Lomachenko.

    My personal P4P numero uno.

hard to say really. with such a hotly contested fight do you really want to award either kov or ward with p4p top spot? i mean i know gonzalez had a hard time aswell (and its those 3 in the running for p4p #1 NO ONE ELSE)

its prob best just to leave chocolotito at #1, ward 2nd and kova 3rd. a clear winner shoots either kov or ward to #1 without question. given chocolotitos trainers death i dont expect to see him in with big challengers anytime soon (and even though he is only 29 he is a small guy so id like to see him fighting only big names from here on out to really cement a legacy) so he could drop if he announces a break from boxing or performs poorly vs an average joe

lomachenko easily has the ability to be p4p #1 but you even though we know hed beat 99.9 percent of fighters P4P wise you cant just award him the title until he gets those wins

i expect he will demolish walters and after that should be a top 5 LOCK (i say lock because alot of fighters receive unfair hate, but iv never met anyone who dislikes loma. the guy is a pure boxer puncher coupled with the footwork and big Ring IQ from his amateur days that makes him one of the most ascetically pleasing fighters to watch)

Can't put him up there just yet, too many other fighters have spilled blood for too many years and too many bouts to put him number 1 at this very moment. He may make a case for himself after next Saturday, give him a chance to prove himself. Walters will not be a cake walk....
