Do you think that Jones is better technically too? He defended himself to the point of not being knocked down for many years too.

How abot LaMotta? LaMotta was near impossibel to KD.

That is not good technique, other people couldnt do it and the only reason he can do it is because of his natural ability.

I was wondering if he was referring to John, a 41-0-1 fighter with 8 title defenses, as a bum. Then immediately thereafter chastising others for being biased haters.

    :huh

Floyd is my current favourite fighter. And by saying he isn't as technical as JMM in no way shape or form means he is inferior to JMM. At all!

Here's a few good posts from this thread that sum up why JMM is more "technical" (not better):

Again, if JMM is more technically sound, or more technical - it doesn't make him a better fighter than Mayweather!

Mayweather has the better footwork in terms of what he can achieve with his footwork relative to his other assets.

    Marquez has better technical footwork.

I can't make this any simpler for you.

In answer to your straight up question: Mayweather is the answer.

Similiar - Ali has better footwork than Louis. But Louis has better technical footwork.

If anyone wants to copy the closest to boxing perfection in the ring, they have to look at PBF !

I always prefered watching RJJ for entertainment and athleticism but PBF is alone skill wise !!

Marquez is really good too but not on PBF's level.....

Marquez is technically as good as they come, right now. He holds his hands in a textbook way, has perfect balance at all time, never reaches with his punches, and always maintains perfect form (even during fierce exchanges). Marquez, at 130, is also a better combination puncher than Floyd at 147.

He's solid defensively, but that's where is biggest weakness comes. He tends to pull straight back, without head movement.

How many people could copy PBF's style, to the same level as he does?

    Very, very few.

Marquez's style is more "technical". Doesn't mean Marquez is better than Floyd. Roy was the most unorthodox fighter goin' round, yet he was the undeniably the best in his time. All the more "technical" fighters weren't seen as better than Roy.

(Now granted, Floyd is much less unorthodox and much more technical than Roy - but it applies nonetheless)

Another good post I wish I could put in my ones above. Spot on.

Because, as I mentioned, he pulls straight back from punches with little head movement too much. And his chin isn't as solid as Floyd's.

However, having a better chin doesn't equate to being more technical.

He has a worse chin and less speed. Nothing to do with technical excellence. He is also in the firing zone more.

He has better speed and a better chin. He is in the firing zone less.

NONE of these aspects are technical. You don't understand the question.

Mayweather's reflexes, ability to see punches, and other athletic abilities helps him there.

    Not his technique.

    See the difference?

(again, Mayweather is my current favourite fighter)

    Absolutely perfect post:good

If there was a fighter I'd show a novice amateur, it would be Juan Manuel Marquez (or Ricardo Lopez).
