Dont get it twisted, Floyd is my favorite fighter. His style is a mixture of orthodox and unorthodox. He has a style that is unusual to say the least. He is the best fighter around to me. Marquez is so technical in his boxing it is almost crazy. Floyd can bend and break the rules a la Roy Jones, but floyd is better technically then Jones. Does this clear the air? I would say this, Calzaghe is the most unorthodox successful fighter I have seen next to Hamed and Freitas. He wins. He just does nothing technically sound especially with his punch technique which is as un-technical as you can get. Marquez is his direct opposite.

I think if there is one place where PBF is superior in any technical aspect over JMM is his defense. But overall, how can one not pick JMM? I mean he is as textbook as they come. PBF bends the rules somewhat because of his natural talent. But that's not to say he's not technically sound, just not as much as JMM from an overall perspective.

Technically JMM by far, whereas Mayweather's skills are predominantly based on his elite reflexes and speed, he's a great boxer without a doubt, but JJM is better, technically speaking.

I agree with you on Hopkins being superior to both, but I see JMM being more technically sound than Mayweather still.

JMM. He executes the fundamentals of Boxing 101 to the fullest. He has no super athletic gifts, for what he has to work with he is just the definition of technical boxing. Floyd is a very technical fighter but I'd say 1/3rd of Floyd's game is his sheer athletics.

    I'll go with PBF.

The guy can both defend and attack more acurately than anybody else at this point in this era.

It just happened that Marquez is not fast enough like Floyd and that his opponents on those fights (Pac & MAB) punch like a mule. Give credit to his opponents' power and not discredit Marquez's technical skills. With that said, I choose Marquez over Floyd by just basing on their technical skills. But if they fight at the same weight, I will choose Floyd to win. Floyd has everything (well, at least almost everything).

Btw, I think it will be more interesting to put a poll for this.

floyd doesn't leap in with left hook and straight rights nor do you see him back straight back ,, where are you seeing these mistake..

JMM gets hit way too often when countering ..

Lets put them together and find out JMM was 141 pounds on fight night against pacman ! PBF would stop him in 9 or win on pts

Technique and who would win a potential match-up have nothing to do with each other.

I wouldn't say that , he showed in the Zab fight that he does not need speed to beat fighter's

Floyd is pure boxing tech , his speed is just a plus ..

Which is why Hopkins at his age is unreal.

Floyd had to adjust in that fight after 4 rounds that weren't really working in his favor. He changed his style up and it confused Judah right on the spot.

Another example of a very technical fighter is Miguel Cotto, Expecially Cotto at 140lbs, Cotto doesn't have any special effects but he beats people off pure technical skill. The only reason I say that JMM is more technical than Floyd is because Floyd is a blend of technical and athletics and its hard to measure him vs other "technical" fighters. When Floyd's speed slows down his true technical abilities will show more and more.

I still have to disagree , the fact that Floyd didn't have to use his speed to beat Zab tell me he doesn't need speed and he beat Zab coming forward .

Cotto on the other hand made alot of mistake against Zab , which he took allot of necessary punishment , rushing in unprotected and launching his wide left hook with his head down ..

JMM loses my vote for most technical after his fight with Pac , one he let his focus lap when he got careless and got dropped , by leaping in with his hand down . After getting dropped JMM was never able to get back on track .
second JMM didn't how to do anything but counter , a flaw that Pac picked up real quick he knew that JMM would not really initiate an attack , so pack would rush in with a 4 punch combo then get out , Pac was able to seal round by doing this.
