The thing that strikes me about nacho is that his fighters NEVER show up out of shape. NEVER! On the other we see Toney show up fat, pacman can lose focus etc. JMM, Rafael, Eric Ortiz, Finito, Zaragoza, Espadas, they all showed up in shape every single time out the gate.

Pac can lose focus that's true. But that's when he's not in training day. Pac is one of the most devout training dogs out there. You don't have to guard him to stay in training, and you have to stop him for over-training. Ask anyone who has been on his training camp. When he is in great focus for a fight, you can see his efforts at the actual weigh in.. those cuts are to die for brother..

depends what you look for. i think beristain has handled the marquez bros and lopez since they were youngsters. teaches them to fight a particular style, and master it. roach is more of a hired gun i think, and just polishes fighters.

Beristain's all-around knowledge is far more superior than Freddie's but Roach can put together a very good game plan and can turn some raw punchers or brawlers into controlled aggressors...

If I were an all-out fighter with very good handspeed and a good amateur background (not much for me to progress), I'd pick Roach. Polish my style. If I were a young talent with much room for improvement, I'd definitely pick Beristain.

    Nacho wins overall IMO.

I would say Roach is not that good, rafael marquez had an easier fight in the 1st marquez vazquez fight when roach was trainning vazquez, suddenly vazquez hires former barrera's trainer rudy lopez and then he knocks marquez out and looked better than with roach.....

Both are two of the very best trainers today.. I'd have to give the edge to Roach.. Even though Berstain has trained superb tech masters such as Marquez, look at what Roach has done with Pacquiao.. In Pac's US debut against Ledwaba, Roach became his trainer and Pac has been great ever since.. Not to mention Roach has been named trainer of the year in 2004, 2006, and 2007..

Roach can help different fighters. Beristain only trains one type of fighter. I'll go with Roach for sure.

    Roach for me.

Roach teaches fighter more skills and polish them. Made Pacquiao from a brawler to a more deadlier semi-techni aggressor type. Made his right hand far more useable. Downfall is that most of his fighters who hired him doesn't cooperate mostly on the gameplan.

Beristain on other hand teaches fighter technically and polish them. Made JMM and his fighters techinically skilled. Downfall is that most of his fighters aren't fun/exciting to watch.

2 diff type of trainer and both good, Nacho Beristain is great at building his fighters in the mexican boxer puncher type like Lopez, Marquez bros while Roach is great at polishing rough fighters like Pacman and Vasquez into great fighters. however i think Nacho Beristain is the better trainer but one of the worlds worst manager.

    Beristain.

If no one has noticed Roach would be in a complete losing streak if it wasn't for Pacquiao.

Beristain has also built his list of hall of famers from the ground up and armed them with all the tools that make a great boxer. Its no brainer who the better trainer is.

The man of the hour too sweet to be sour etc etc etc

I think they're both great in their own ways. Roach is best taking a good fighter and turning him into a great one, Beristain is at his best taking someone from the ground up and trying to build them into something.

Beristain seems better at getting his fighters to adjust mid-fight, Roach seems at his best as a calming figure in the corner.

Hard to tell really...although Roach holds the lead 2-1 (2 Pac wins over JMM, Rafa over Izzy).

Too subjective. Certain trainers simply click with certain fighters and improve them. Other times they dont do anything for them.
