Who is the better boxer? Chad Dawson or Kelly Pavlik

    Dawson is the better boxer but as for who's the better fighter, it's still too early to tell.

    What about ring generalship, speed, defense, counterpunching, footwork?:deal Not to mention chins are about equal since both have shaky chins. Heart what makes you think Dawson doesn't have heart he's never quit and has been knocked down and gotten up to continue.

    define boxer vs fighter.

    I consider a boxer as someone who participates in the sport of boxing. And i mentioned in my first post i meant overall boxer, not technical boxer

    I could care less if Ring Magazine and ESPN have Pavlik over Dawson. Their opinion over mine doesn't mean squat to me. Pavlik, while a good, tough fighter, isn't in the same league as Dawson when it comes to skill. Power? Maybe Pavlik has more, maybe he doesn't. No way to really tell yet. Chin? Both have been dropped. Stamina? Both seem to have no problems with stamina. Skills? Dawson by a landslide, which= Dawson a better boxer, IMO. :deal

    ok what was so hard about saying your opinion without dissing anyone. you must be really pathetic in real life.

    the question was legit because most people have Pavlik above Dawson in their p4p lists. Which means that they consider Pavlik as better than Dawson so i wanted to see how many thought Dawson is better than Pavlik

    obviously there is a contradiction here since a large majority think Dawson is better but at the same time i'm pretty sure a majority would rate Pavlik above Dawson in a p4p list

    FYI: I am 6'2" and I am slightly taller than Bad Chad.

    I have met him on 3 different occasions and had a picture taken with him.

    Oh, and Chad is a better boxer, but just because Kelly gets tagged a bit, doesn't mean he is not in Chad's league.

    Kelly is a VERY GOOD boxer.

    Dawson has better skills than Pavlik, he has a better jab, better hook, better uppercut, basically just the better overall boxer. If Taylor can knock down Pavlik, Dawson will knock him down and knock him out. Dawson also has better defense too, unlike Taylor Dawson has great head movement and block punches very well. Oh and Dawson doesn't just outbox you, he beats you down, and he beats you down hard, the fact that he is also a superior boxer is even more impressive.

    Pavlik has accomplished more.
    They have both beaten top guys, but Pavlik is a lineat middleweight champ, something Chad hasn't done, YET!

    In terms of pfp, I rate skills and resume equally. 50/50.

    Head to head, I'd say Dawson wins a UD.

    what i'm saying is that a resume is a tool used to determine who is better.

    Once you decide that, it really doesn't make sense to put boxer A above boxer B despite thinking that B is better than A

    In my view a boxer is someone who uses a lot of movement, speed, defense, and combos. A fighter can be a boxer but also a brawler.

    ok but if you use my definition as in a boxer is simply someone who boxes for a living, who is the better boxer Pavlik or Dawson?

    Well for the poll, who is better p4p.. I'd say Pavlik because he has beat some very solid fighters...

    Chad Dawson is def. a better "boxer" though.

    Pavlik has done a little more in my view by beating the lineal champ twice and I would put him a little bit ahead of Dawson.

    If they fought head to head Dawson would win.
