:rofl Miranda is a beast, I dont care what anyone says. Taylor fought on even terms with Hops and WInky, he's a damn good fighter. Where was Taylor ranked p4p when Pav KO'd him? Top 5 at least. Where was Adamek ranked p4p when Dawson had to run from him in the championship rounds to get a decision? Not even top 20. Case closed, move on.
lmao, and I knew you would bring that, "Holier than thou" attitude. I'll remember to be gentler when discussing boxing with you. :drama
You should; it was his best performance and the most recent. I cannot see how people can afford to comment on Dawson without having seen this fight...
Well...we're comparing Pavlik at MW with Dawson at LHW here, right? This is no h2h. At MW, Pavlik beat a bona fide border-line elite (B++/A-) Champion twice and some of the best contenders out there. Pavlik would beat Winky too...Abraham is the only question here. (Taylor is more than a solid B at MW, if we are fair; yeah, he'd get beat by solid B fighters at SMW, but that's another story...) Dawson has beaten Adamek in an amazing performance on a night when Adamek was not at his very best. So...even though we are right in believing Dawson can put in the same kind of performance against border-line elite fighters some day, and even surpass it, so far, we're extrapolating, keeping our fingers crossed. He hasn't done it yet though, so let's not jump overboard... With Guzman, who had never fought a borderline elite, I am happy with a Top 10 spot, because he's proven all the right physical requirement against all styles, time and time again. Dawson has never been against a big puncher or against relentless pressure. So I cannot put Dawson in the Top 10, with Guzman. I cannot put him ahead of Pavlik p4p either...so I put him just behind him, somewhere in the Top 15. But do I think that in a year from now Dawson will be better than Pavlik p4p? Yeah, I do. I think he will be the next US fighter to get into the Top 5, after Mayweather. But let's face it...if for one reason or another, no matter how small the chance, he gets slushed by Diaconu, say...does that mean Diaconu is Top 10 p4p material? No, it means Dawson was overrated...so...I'm not jumping overboard on Dawson yet. I feel a Top 15 ranking, after Pavlik is generous at this stage. :good
Yeah, I'm comparing them P4P. Taylor is just a solid B, because MW is an extremely weak division. The difference in size between Taylor/Pavlik and most SMW's is very minor, barely a factor. The difference is class in the fighters. MW division is weak, a division can be crap and have only B level fighters, this is MW. Another example is the current Light Welter, no real ELITE fighters are in there anymore like at Welter. Adamek is still a better fighter than Taylor P4P. You overrate Taylor constantly due to seeing him do some moderate outboxing against sloppy ass Pavlik. BUT, Adamek wasn't at his best, that's fair. Pavlik's never fought a borderline elite either, because Taylor is not close to elite. A good example of a borderline elite would be your man Lucian Bute, 'not totally top class, but in the discussion' and Mundine. These guys are borderline top class, otherwise 'elite's'. Not Taylor. Guzman beat Soto, a borderline top class fighter, with ease, thus why he deserves a top 10 with the other criteria also. P4P H2H, Soto is better than Pavlik OR Taylor. Yeah it means Diaconu is top 10. Diaconu is a good pressure fighter who is underrated, I'd tip him over several SMW's and you know how well I think of the division. I'd tip Diaconu over every LHW except Dawson to be exact. Dawson's an A class fighter, he's shown enough to be considered such. Pavlik is a B class to the core, so is Jermain Taylor, these 3 aren't comparable P4P. Study some more video.:good Taylor and Pavlik make more technical mistakes than anybody else in the supposed top 20 P4P.
When Pav beat him, Taylor was ranked around 5 p4p. When Dawson ran from Adamek and got a decison Adamek wasnt even top 20.
WRONG The Ring and just about everybody universally dropped him from the top 10 P4P after the two pathetic showing's against Ouma and Spinks. Ring, which I personally detest, actually got something right for once, even though it was blatant that he never belonged in there in the first place.
I had him at 5, I suppose an argument can be made to put him around 10 or 11 at the time. . . even so he will still ranked much higher than Adamek, who wasnt even top 20.
Didn't Dawson knockdown Adamek? uh yes he did !! after the knockdown against Harding ... Dawson broke his nose and blew him out en route to a UD.
