i don't seperate the two. When i say better fighter, i mean who is better at the sport. Its like if i asked who was the better tennis player, Nadal or Federer, and you answered Nadal is the better baseline player, and Federer is the better net player. Well you're still not answering the question. Who is the better professional boxer, Wlad or Vitali?
What makes you say that? It was Vitali who quit on his stool against Byrd. I know that he redeemed himself somewhat in the Lewis fight, but Wlad always got up and never quit, unlike Vitali. I think he should get the edge in the heart department, as far as not giving up anyway... Wlad is the far superior boxer, but his weak chin sets him back compared to his brother. His resume is also far superior. And where there is always the fear of Wlad getting clocked and stopped, there is the fear that Vitali's body breaks down one way or another. If you watch Wlad in the late 90's/early 2000's, he was a ****ing beast, an offensive machine with extremely fast hands, top end power, reflexes, etc. He is much slower and more tentative today. Harder to beat perhaps, but i haven't seen him land a good left hook anymore since he stopped Austin with a quadruple left hook. Wlad is the more textbook fighter with a great classic jab, right hand, left hook, etc. Vitali has a good jab as well, but often throws half hook/half jabs, mixed with an uppercut here and there. You'd say he's predictable, but his high workrate (60 punches a round), heavy hands, and huge size have lead to 34 stoppages out of 35 wins. Still, Wlad is the much harder hitter if you ask me.
Vitali has better defense. He is harder to hit. He also has a higher KO ratio, so although his power per punch is lower, he is more difficult to last all 12 rounds against. He also seems to have better stamina and we havent seen him tired other than the Lewis fight. If you are talking about today, then we can say his attack is more varied, he throws more combinations. Steward has wlad jabbing for rounds on end without throwing a single hook or right hand. If you go back to pre steward wlad, he had thrown more variety but he also was easy to hit as he leaned down towards his opponent. Vitali has always been harder to land on and has thrown good variety of shots.
What if Vitali came home one day and found Wlad riding her ontop of the kitchen table?:think Vitali-Wlad @ madison square garden!!!!!!
