Who is the better of the two and by how much-Sonny or George?

Liston was never as past-prime as that Foreman, however. & yet somehow, Foreman was better in his twilight than Liston was in his.

 

I agree, but that's primarily because Liston was a drug addict towards the end of his life, and simply didn't have the mentality Foreman did. Despite being similar ages (Liston actually may very well have been older if the 1950 census is anything to go by as well as doctor's estimates of his age), Liston had far better competition in his first career, and didn't take ten years off his career like Foreman which meant he had far more wear and tear, by their respective stages in their career.

 

Yeah. I toyed with the line “drugs are bad,” in the previous post. It’s a shame, if only for the talent he had.

Imagine Liston quitting after the Ali debacle of 1965 & returning for a ten-year stint between 1975-85. Maybe he coulda lost every round to Spinks or Norton & snatched away their title with one good punch!

Well, yea he does. Guess I overlooked him. Foreman does better IMO.

My brain instinctually blocks him out. Strongly dislike the guy.

 

That is quite a filter you have! Ali has a ubiquitous brand.

Accomplishments? "Big" George Foreman.

 

To be fair he could be pretty damn annoying.

 

Agreed but not easy to forget or block out.
