The streotype of a prospect to me is....a "young " up and coming fighter.

Gamboa is far too advanced to be classed young hes "27" !!!! thats a very mature age for a Superfeather, you are probably watching Gamboa at the peak of his physicall powers right now. The guy has wittled away in the amatuer ranks for 400+ fights.

Khan I would class as a prospect he is 20 still maturing physically and will develop. I also think Khan has the better physical attributes. Hes tall rangy and is starting to develop real pop on his punches.

There you have it Khan the better "PROSPECT".

There's no debate. Gamboa is one of the best prospects in years and Khan is a hypejob KO waiting to happen. Who's the poster who originally started this insane Gamboa/Khan debate?

Well, if Gamboa doesn't fit your definition of prospect, than it's only logical to answer this question with Khan.

I, on the other hand, still consider Gamboa a prospect.

someone who has had less than 20 pro fights, never lost, and is looking to challenge for a world title is a prospect. therefore, gamboa is a prospect

they are both prospects, one is just younger than the other. they both have bright futures and great potential.

It's not even close. Gamboa is a superstar in the making. Amsterdam is an extremist and has gotten a few fights picks wrong recently, but he's hit the nail on the head with his praise(albeit excessive) of both Mijares and Gamboa.

Only a few picks wrong out of hundreds of correct picks though.

And I've NEVER called a hype job wrong, nor have I overhyped someone that didn't deliver. I am very good at rating a fighter.

    Khan isn't ****, there's my assessment and it's fact.

khan is good, but gamboa is on a whole other level. Gamboa will dominate, khan will not.

It's very unfair to compare Gamboa to Khan.

Khan is 5 years younger and much, much less experienced. Still, he's beaten better competition than Gamboa. On the other hand, he's been in the pro game 2 years longer. Gamboa's making much bigger step-ups much faster, though, as would be expected for a 26 year old...

Khan is not as talented and not as good, but then, he couldn't be as good, given the comparative lack of experience, could he?

A better question would be: Who is more impressive? The answer is Khan! He has come a hell of a long way in three years.

Still, Gamboa will almost certainly achieve more in his career, I think.

    Good luck to both!:good

Khan with the experience still would never have this kind of physical ability and skill.

ideally i'm sure alot of us would rather have seen gamboa turn pro sooner (after the 04 olympics) and khan later (after the bejing games), it would have been in the best interest of both boxers

More potential than Khan, but will fail miserably at the top level. Khan on the other hand will fail at the fringe contender level, if he's matched with anybody with a punch.
