Sweet Pea on resume, easily, not even close. But H2H I wouldn't know who to back. It's the same old issue, Floyds talent is better than his resume. How much better is speculation, cause the ****wit wont fight the best.
I think de la hoya and floyd had a deal that he wouldnt beat him up too bad. Same deal that hopkins and pac had with dlh. Why did pac keep backing off when he clearly coulda hattoned him. Why did hopkins carry dlh for 9 rounds? Think about the money.
Either way the knockdown was nonsense! Feet tangled? Slip? The WBC apparently had that rule in place at the time regards headbutts which was a travesty. I had Pernell winning the fight by two points regardless.
Head to head it would be reasonably close, whitaker taking it by a few rounds. Pound for pound Whitaker pisses it. Mayweather hasnt fought anyone with even half the ability of Whitaker
If you wanna talk about Floyds controversial decision over Castillo in the 1st fight. Then how come no one brings up Whittakers 1st fight with Wilfredo Rivera? I thought Rivera won that one. Also others are saying Whittaker looked better against Delahoya,I dont think so I thought Oscar won that fight 115-112 and its not controversial like everyone plays it up to be. I thought Mayweather beat Oscar by a point. When it comes down to it i think Whittaker was slicker (not by far) and Mayweather was the better offensive fighter. Resume id go with Whittaker, but Mayweathers career isnt over yet if he impresses against Manny Ill probably lean towards Mayweather. As of right know I got Whittaker by a hair, but i voted even since everyone is on Whittakers nuts these days. Whittaker was not this popular when he was fighting believe that! Many fans complained that he was boring. I for one appreaciate his skills and hes the best defensive fighter ive seen but he also put in some performances that would be a good remedy for insomnia. I know ill hear it from all you Sweet Pea nut huggers but 1/2 of you werent even watching boxing when he was in his prime,so your opinion dont mean much to me.
The situations arent even remotely comparable anarci. Floyd was in his red hot prime...Absolutely owning his previous division and coming off a huge 2001. Pea was coming to the end of his career 2 divisions above his best weight and was coked out of his brain. He looked all types of shite against Hurtado not long after the Rivera fights aswell. He got up a little more for the Oscar and Tito fights but he was clearly faded, anyone could see that.
Floyd was not at 100% for the first fight and dominated the rematch to prove it. Whitaker and Floyd are both ATG's and I have max respect for both.
