And the fight was on Mexican Independence day. Apparently one of the biggest nights for boxing PPVs. We know why they posponed the fight and placed it on this date instead.
Plus, you know, the Puerto Rican population living in the US, which is above 4 million. Also, how in the world is THIS a gauge of a fighter's popularity? As if every Mexican and every Puerto Rican buys boxing PPVs? If you look at their PPV numbers, taking out the fights against Floyd and Pac I'm pretty sure Cotto has better numbers. Really though, their are over 40 million african-americans in the US so clearly Floyd is the largest draw. Do the math, right?
looking at ppv numbers....Cotto easily...cotto has headlined PPV fights with Mosley, Tony, and Judah...JMM did 100,000 buys with Cassamayor..this isnt even a discussion
Marquez, at the time he was about to face PBF, was very popular. Coming off impessive wins over Casamayor and Diaz, and being the last mexican standing, he has a legit claim to the P4P#1 or 2 spot. Cotto just before the Pac fight, has always been looked as somebody who already lost badly to Margarito. Nevertheless Cotto has never really reached the Tito-sque status in Puerto Rico, let alone in the reat of the boxing world.
......and in the same time frame, Pacquiao did less than 180k with David Diaz.....yet you consider him a sell.
The guy can win fights, but he can't perform worth **** when it comes to interviews... Should I say that while clapping my hands? ANSWER THE QUESTION!
