Just curious. People living in Europe or England, who do you think is the bigger star?

Hatton is MUCH more popular to the casual fan i believe. All my mates who don't really follow boxing think Hatton is god:lol:

Hatton by a mile. His "down-to-earth" personality is what makes him a star.

BTW, hello LeedsLad. Cheers for all the great links. :)

Do you guys think Calzaghe might overtake Hatton in popularity if he beats Hopkins?

It's Hatton but it should be Calzaghe.

Calzaghe is class act and an All Time Great fighter. Regardless of era.

Hatton is a brawler who lacks the discipline to avoid getting fat and drunk in between fights. Pretty boy exposed him for what he is.

The Brits like Hatton because he is more like most of them. Fat and drunk.

no sadly joe will never get the publicity he deserves from the mainstream media therefore only really be known to boxing fans, rickys popularity right now in my opinion is on bruno level,he is a true sporting hero over here, they both are to me personally,my favourite 2 fighters.

I don't get it. Calzaghe will have accomplished more and isn't he a likeable guy too? He seems genuinely nice and isn't a *****.

    LOL!

Good one. Like it's been said already, Hatton is more popular with the casual fan. Clearly, Joe has way more skills and so he is more popular with people who know boxing.

That's just how it is man. I agree with you, I don't get it either. Hatton is just a "bigger" character.

I spent some time in London last year and I am convinced most Brits do not realize what they have in Calzaghe.

Calzaghe is one of the all time greats. I put him up there with fighters like Carlos Monzon, Tommy Loughran, Gene Tunney, Ray Robinson, Billy Conn, etc. He will toy with Hopkins.

Why do the British love losers and average fighters like Frank Bruno and Hatton?

    Hatton by a distance.

He's a lot more media friendly than Calzaghe.

    And Eddie the Eagle? LOL.

Most of the world doesn't realize how good Calzaghe is, btw, not just Britain.
