I mean ATG anywhere from 160 to 175. His competition is actually stronger than Hopkins. Hopkins has fought blown up welters and junior middles. Tarver is a joke. Kessler is better than Hopkins and any one Hopkins has faced and Calzaghe gave him a boxing lesson. You have to take your American centric lense off and understand the level of quality in Europe today is better than in the USA at 160 lbs and up, for the most part. Exception is Pavlik.

Calzaghe also wins all the time, trains hard, has great skill and does not let his fans down. Something about the Brits must love a loser. How else can you explain the fascination with that muscle bound, limited, plodder, Frank Bruno.

Calzaghe has been a nonentity in ENGLAND for ten years you mean. We've always appreciated what we have in Wales. The general public/casual fan in England still probably doesn't know who Calzaghe is and if they do, it will only be down to him winning BBC sports personality. And what persecuted sheep-shagger thing?

Hate to agree with you but its true, A lot of Brits are fat, drunken racists. Mostly Hardcore football fans, who are Hatton's fanbase.

Because he's from Wales shithead! Its called 'local support' - what you "had" in Wales was an excellent fighter matched against primarily bums for the best decade of his career; if you WANT to 'get behind' somebody like that, feel free. But don't expect informed, rational fight fans to do the same.

Persecuted sheepshagger - he's Welsh we're so presecuted wah wah wah! STFU up, please! Somebody give this ***** a tampon.

Nothing to do with loving losers. Hatton wasn't a loser when all those Brits went to support him against PBF.

It's with the fact that British people dislike arrogant, superior, aloof stars...they want their stars to have the common touch. Hatton does, Calzaghe doesn't anywhere close to the same extent/

You said he's a nonentity without specifying where he's considered a nonentity which implied that he was a nonentity everywhere. I just corrected you by saying that in Wales, he was not. I'm just educating you. Don't be bitter you ****ing spastic. Informed rational fight fans do know what they have in Calzaghe. If they don't see what they have in an undefeated undisputed smw champion of the world then they're not informed, rational fight fans. Be logical, man. Don't be such a ****.

Calzaghe has chosen to stay out of the public eye. Personally, in terms of boxing, personality and how he comes across I favour him far more than Hatton.

Joe won the BBC sports personality one of the most coveted sporting award in the country.Surely that is proof he has wider appeal than just among boxing fans and that us Brits do recognise winners.
I would say Hatton is more popular certainly pre Mayweather fight just a pity he couldnt walk the walk.
As for Calzaghe his profile has risen a lot since his demolition of Jeff Lacey
