I don't know too many people who know Mayweather where I'm from. However there a quite a few people I know who are not boxing fans who know Pacquiao and actually go to the pub to watch him fight. They even went to see the Clottey fight. I would say Pacquiao is more popular worldwide.
Worldwide, Pac by light years. USA, Mayweather by a small margin (because he is American). Therefore overall it's Pac by a distance.
I've always wondered how big Manny is in the rest of East Asia and Australasia. Anyone be able to enlighten me on this?
Obviously naive. When Pac fights, the Philippines stops. When Mayweather fights well.... it doesn't even compare.
Pac is more popular. Pac makes guest appearances on Jimmy Kimmel and other things. He's an 8-division champion, and he's beaten some other big names. People like winners and Pac is on top of boxing so the casual fans will be easily lured to him. Mayweather can talk all he wants, but his **** talking is not as well executed as Ali's delivery. Unfortunately, neither will reach Tyson's or Ali's mythical status in popular culture.
How do you mesure this? I think Mayweather fans are made up of basicly two groups the first and largest is people who admire his skills/tallent etc, etc. I fall into this group. The are those who have an emoitional atachament to rather he wins or loses. These are more triditional fans. Pacquiao's suporters also come into two main groups. The first are the triditional fans who have the emoitional atachament to Pacquiao when he wins or loses. The other group are people who like him because he is considered to be the greatest theret to Maywather. If Pacquiao were to lose and no longer be the latest anti-Mayweather it will be intresting to see how many of these "fans" stick with Pacquiao and how many jump on the bandwagon of the next anti-Mayweather.
The biggest group of Pac fans is people who admire his skills/tallent etc, etc. I fall into this group.
