All that running backwards takes it toll. Maybe Teddy should have him run the 500m backwards to get ready.
Considering Pacquaio never did over 2 million, and Mayweather did twice, I would give Pacquiao credit for more like 35-40% of that. which is at 40% of the 4.2 about 1.68 mill. which matches close to his biggest PPV.
Co-sign. Pac is clearly the most proven PPV commodity of the bunch, excluding Floyd from the equation. Canelo's two biggest PPV were against established name cash cows, Floyd and Cotto, with the latter being part of the Mexican-Puerto Rican rivalry. Until someone like Canelo can firmly establish an ability to carry a PPV on his own against a relative unknown, I have to go with Pac, even if his next bout's numbers are a good bit lower than Canelo's bout rooted in nationalistic rivalry. Canelo's right there, though, and since Pac's more recent numbers (Floyd excluded) have been lower than they had been, he may be closer to the point of surpassing Pac than I'm crediting. But Pac still has the track record, even if he's trending down and Canelo is trending up. :smoke
Televised events have increased three fold at least, amidst the highest ppv sellers and events, (Floyd Manny) should we believe that is just coincidence?
I don't care who the richest boxers are I care about watching the best fighters and the best fights and PPV stops me watching more of them.
It matters a lot because this is the boxing business. No money then no top fighters. They could play, football, basketball or soccer.[/QUOTE] There will always be a lot of money for the best fighters/fights without PPV and I don't think many fighters could make it to the top of any sport they choose, the top athletes are usually gifted in the sport there in.
I'm not sure why people are so focused on the "ppv" portion of this thread title. You can remove ppv and just ask who the biggest star is and the answers will be the same, for, the biggest ppv star and biggest star are the same. You don't pay per for view for lesser stars, only the biggest.
I wonder if the next fight with Fury will have massive PPV because people who haven't seen him (except on youtube) might be interested in seeing him fight. It would be like looking at a car accident...you don't want to, but you can't help but rubberneck. Fury-Wlad was a horrible fight but the rematch would draw better than a Floyd-Pac II, IMO. Again, just the freakshow curiousity with respect to Fury. Let's face it....Fury is a marketing master. He's the P.T. Barnum of boxing, and there are a LOT of suckers amongst boxing fans.
I just looked at the question as who is the biggest star period, since I'm smart enough to know they are one in the same. I don't care about all these ppv "points" you people keep bringing up, now please quit bugging me about ppv this and that, thank you.
Pacquiao Canelo Cotto , both Pac an Cotto are retiring next year so Canelo by default. Alvarez also has the best chance going forward imo as well, he can still make 154/5 so he's in the middle of it all bigger WWs like Brook.Thurman,Khan moving up or Bradley. JMWs like Andrade, Charlo, etc for a title or vacant belt, MWs like Lee,GGG, possible Jacobs or Quillin. Because of his star power he can make good to potential huge money wise fights, one key thing about being a PPV star is timing gotta be around for the right opponent's people you can sale as threats. Look at GGG just because of lack if high quality opponents he's willing or can actually face he might never be a PPV star. Canelo is popular, skilled, yet also vulnerable enough that you can sell alot of fights as huge test with good results. Angulo and Lara fights both did 300k+ PPVs he can do that or bigger with most of the guys mentioned.
