ye ive seen Crawford fight too was very impressed hes already touted for big things also Frampton is highly rated over here in the uk JG he will be a world champion in the near future
and +1 from me -the guy's strangely underhyped but would be 90% KO (disregarding a TD which would normally be seen as an NC). The inadvertant ring death of fellow boxer Simakov (RIP) may have lead to a certain shyness about his record. A quick and merciless destruction of Campillo, who was admittedly not well prepared has brought him close to the big time though, and if he can seal it with a win over Cornelius White on 14/6, Kovalevs the LHW to be scared of... The unannounced terror at 175. As a PS though, I've yet to see his chin or stamina properly tested, and am uncertain of his defensive skills. He can certainly box a bit and has decent AM pedigree, but he tends to put people down too quick to know how he'll do in the long haul. I rate White as a useful marker for him.
Abner Mares. Even with his outstanding resume and wins he's "tailor-made" for every ****ing boxer, as quoted here. Even Al Bernstein was saying how he couldn't imagine Abner Mares boxing for the Ponce fight. Guy keeps winning and everyone keeps counting him out.
Don't know about the darkest horse but the darkest boxer is Tarver. Dude is so dark he's eggplant purple.
Terrence Crawford is definitely a good shout. Tim Bradley said he sparred with him and that he is a beast. Looking forward to his next few fights.
Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez - middleweight Lee Selby - featherweight Carl Frampton - super bantamweight Omar Figueroa - Lightweight
Scott Quigg at Super bantamweight. he has all the tools, but i'm not convinced about his chin just yet. the way he took Rendall Munroe apart was impressive. hasn't boxed since then. he's under the Hatton promotion right now and they don't have any TV backing. hope his career gets going again soon. watch out for him.
Lee Selby is another one to watch. he's beat a good list of fighters in defence of his British title. i have high hopes of him. i'm not getting too ahead of myself with him though. but he's definitely one to watch.
i think so, yeah. try Youtube for their second fight. Munroe also has a few good wins as well. so it meant something when Quigg beat him.
never heard of rendal Munroe was beaten in Japan by Toshiaki Nishioka in super bamtamweight title fight 2010
Appreciated thread...always good to be shown new talent. Haven't looked at all of them yet, but Terrence Crawford's got summit special I think. Quigg looks handy too, but I'm not convinced he's top flight - local kid, though, so gonna watch him. Not that it really matters OP, but is it more 'up and comers' or 'unhyped contenders' that you were thinking of?
John you're right about Terrence Crawfords he's a future champ. Demetrius Andrade could be a live dog against anyone 154-160. Segey Kovalev just might be the best LHW out there, I'm a huge Dawson fan and think Dawson would have his hand full with him already. Brad Solomon and Mikael Zewski at WW. Gary Russell Jr although |I'm sure you're aware of him. All dudes capable of being champs within a couple years (in andrades case next month when he fights in Ukraine vs Baysangurov for WBO 154 belt).
