Zivic remains the master of the dark arts.

The final punch thrown at Goldfield is on film, and it certainly rivals what that head case Golota did to Bowe 2X. The entire nation and world saw it in nickelodeons. Nelson could've at least gotten credit for taking his medicine and try completing the 45 round limit, but simply quit with that cheap shot. Previously, Gans himself was blasted in newspapers for rightly quitting Erne I (I have those old yellowed clippings), and that wasn't filmed. The Dane should've been utterly crucified for how he surrendered in Goldfield.

When Fritzie and Jake shook hands for the camera after the Croat Comet beat up the Raging Bull in their only Championship Distance bout, LaMotta looks like he'd been run over, utterly exhausted. He looked fine after the Valentine's Day Massacre. Not that many WWs could hang with former amateur LHW Jake. A quick look at his record indicates that Zivic and peak SRR were the only WWs to ever beat LaMotta.

Holyfield's head turned Rahman's into that of a hammerhead shark. Let's face it. Yes, Tyson was a savage, but his fouling tended to be retaliatory and often born of frustration. Bonecrusher's clutching, Evander's head butts, etc... I'm no fan of Mike's, but I thought he boxed pretty cleanly in his distance bouts, Tillis, Green, Bonecrusher, Tucker and Ruddock II. He also showed class after Holyfield I, congratulating and shaking Evander's hand in their post fight press conference.

What happened right before he bit Holyfield's ear? Evander had just shoved him far back. Tyson's never said anything about this to my limited knowledge, but I wonder if he was thinking, "Steroids!" Qawi has been EXTREMELY outspoken about this, mentioning a radical difference in Holyfield from their first to second CW bout. (I had Ike the winner in their Atlanta SD win by Holy, but Qawi was on the other guy's home turf there.)

Aside from Holyfield I, Qawi was stopped only one other time, and Foreman did it with an excruciating kidney punch. This foul cost George that round, but was probably the reason why Dwight threw up his hands and quit in disgust a couple rounds later. Good for Foreman.

Michael Spinks was all elbows in the clinches with Johnny Davis (who himself was very dirty with Qawi). Both Buzzsaw and Jinx had an interesting history with the Davis brothers, but clearly came out on top. I thought yet another bout between Qawi and Johnny Davis for the WBC LHW Title might've been fun, and Dwight would've been happy to finally stop his early nemesis.

In their rematch, Carlos Monzon quickly retired Nino Benvenuti with shots to the back and back of the neck. It's how Wepner would've looked with loaded gloves. Nino wasn't hurt in any way though, they were not scoring blows, yet his corner overreacted by throwing in the towel anyway.

Marciano did get penalized rounds from time to time. It happened in LaStarza II, but that was the round in which Rocky injured Roland's arm with a shot.

Bonecrusher should not have gotten paid after incessantly clinching Tyson, and Mike disgustedly said as much in his postfight comments.

Eusebio Pedroza-Juan LaPorte. No question that Sal Sanchez was by far the cleaner competitor between those two FW Champions.

Watch Tex Cobb trying to hammer nails into the top of Earnie's head.

This has always been my opinion. He was clever and cute, but so were a lot of veteran fighters. He was also a marvelous storyteller.

    Eusebio Pedroza.
No else comes close in the modern era ( 1960's and up).
Yes Golata was dirty, ( Low blows) Holyfield ( His head was a extra fist) Holmes ( thumbed many opponents, to many to be accidental)
Ali , ( pulling opponents head down)
Chavez ( Seem to hit after the bell many times)
Liston ( a few opponents said he conviently had linement on his gloves, most famously was Ali)
Tyson and Marciano loved to bring the elbow behind hooks. Lewis did too.
Foreman ( Pushing and pulling opponents off balance was a part of his fight strategy)
Duran ( May have missed his calling as a wrestler)
But no one did all those fouling offenses as much as Pedroza, ( with exception of the linament) and did it as smoothly.
He always seemed to know exactly what the ref could see.
And very rarely was penalized though it was plain as day watching him through a TV.
And the funny thing was, he really didn't need to do it.
Poor Juan Laporte got the total treatment. He had almost every foul committed on him by Pedroza.
And never retaliated. Instead he complained to the ref throughout the fight.
That fight showed me Laporte as good as he was, didn't have the fire for greatness.
