Morales's last title is bogus and you know it. I did wish Morales beat Maidanas ass.

As I always say, it all depends on how you judge the Barrera trilogy.
As far as I am concerned they are both pretty close in ATG ranking.
But then again Morales as my vote cause he has the warrior spirit.

Whereas Erik showed true class, Barrera showed ass.

I never forgave Barerra for hitting Morales outside of the ring. That was classless.

Unlike others, I had a feeling he would be able to take Maidana`s punches, he has always been super tough (I put the Pac stoppages more down to him being weight drained & in need of a major break from the sport than anything else) & I felt his counter-punching would be big trouble for Maidana... my thought was that he would land the better technical punches but get outworked in the latter half of the fight & maybe drop a decision, I never thought either man would hurt each other.... turns out I was right in some things but overall wrong because I thought Erik did win the fight & he DID hurt Maidana once or twice.

So you are gonna let the judges determin how you rank a fighter when they are the most incompetent people in boxing ? :huh ... we both know that the Maidana performance alone (5 weights above Morales peak weight) shold be enough to give Morales the edge over Barrera, especially as they were interchangeable in your opinion before that fight.

Morales was also denied his 4th weight title vs Diaz in a worse decision than the Maidana fight so IMO the Diaz & Maidana fight more than cancel out the way Morales got his 4th title vs Cano, surely.... either way you look at it Morales IS Mexico`s first 4 weight champion (something you told me not to get excited about because it will never happen, I remember well)

    2 questions....

    1. How can the Maidana fight + becoming a 4 weight champion not put Morales over Barrera when they were interchangeable before those things happened ?

    2. Who is the lowest ranked opponent Morales will have to beat for you to be satisfied to put him over Barrera ?

Exactly... Morales could have beat Lucas fkn Matthyse & Barrera fans would still try claim he is not Mexico`s first 4 weight champ because Bradley was stripped because THEY KNOW that this 4th title is the thing that has Barrera beat because he`ll never be able to emulate it.

I don`t see the problem here, he was robbed vs Diaz so the honour should already be his anyway, he only got what he was owed... if you throw in the fact that he schooled Maidana, a recent world champion at 140 & legit top fighter at the weight then its pretty clear to see that 1. Morales is Mexico`s first world champ & 2. He without doubt ranks over Barrera.

    That is all ;)

    Quit like a dog ? :-(

As for the KO'd opponent, I think you would have done the same thing (if not keep hitting hit on the canvas) if you knew what that guy said before the fight. But of course you would be the one on the canvas :good

There's an argument. I just think when you're ranking such quality fighters as Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera, it wouldn't be right to give one of them the edge based on a gutsy past-prime performance over a decent but flawed Marcos Maidana. There's so many more important factors that such take priority. H2H results, for example.

 I didn't know at that time the WBC were inclined to hand Morales a world title, which is effectively what they've done. It means absolutely nothing.

Fair points regarding the David Diaz fight.

Although Morales put in a gutsy performance, he ultimately lost the fight. I'm going to rank Morales ahead of Barrera based on an impressive past-prime losing display? No, I'm not. Likewise, Morales was effectively handed a world title. I fail to recognise the achievement, and I'd hold the same stance had it been Marco Antonio Barrera fighting Pablo Cano.

He would have to beat someone of note. Who the **** is Pablo Cano?

If Morales had beaten Matthyse, I'd recognise him as a legitimate world champion, a greater fighter than Barrera, and I'd also be sporting a Morales avatar.

Schooled Maidana? You mean he enjoyed his fair share of success and lost narrowly on the cards? I'm not shocked at your perception of the fight. Morales also "schooled" Barrera in 2002 according to you, Bill.

    Morales>JMM>Barrera.

BUt lets see how JMM ends his career as he still has a few fights left... but currently that's how it stands.

    You must be brain dead.

The ONLY reason why Barerra won 2 out of 3 fights is because Morales allowed himself to get lured into a brawl. Had Morales stuck to boxing, he outboxes Barerra.
