Its the same as Lewis vs Holyfield.

Cal beat Hops, thats the truth.

But overall Hops did more, no question.

Hopkins is clearly the better fighter and people forget that Hopkins should've really retired back around 2002 or 2004.

Hopkins has the better career accomplishments, while I view Calzaghe as the tougher man to beat H2H.

Hopkins is better. Mainly because he is the self-made man, and a better boxer.

I do like Calzaghe and a lot of people forget that he had such problems with his hands but he beat every single man put in front of him and people can say that he beat an old Hopkins but look at what that old Hopkins is doing now! But overall, I think I would have to go with Hopkins!

Calzaghe beat a prime kessler, near prime Eubank, prime lacy, a near prime better version of rjj than b hop did and most importantly he beat prime Hopkins himself.

Who has Hopkins beat? Some blown up welters, an ancient rjj, the overhyped White hope pavlik, some Canadian fella.

    Joes 0 says it all.

head to head, JC may won their fight but legacy wise, hopkins takes it...

Bhop has better resume than JC, handsdown...beating Bhop doesnt mean JC has better legacy,he will be remember as the guy that beat the oldest ATG to win a title...

The poll is a microcosm of what the entire boxing world thinks.

    Hopkins >>> Calzaghe

I don't get why this is even a debate.

Calzaghe beat Hopkins, in his own backyard after bEing down on the first round. He also did it by outhustling and outdirtying Hopkins, which is very hard to do. Calzaghe retired at the right moment, while he was on top. Now what warrants us to think that he wouldn't be doin the same things Hopkins is doing now?

I say if calzaghe is still fighting today, he beats dawson, pascal, diaconu and any other lhw.... Easy!!

Hopkins: Trinidad, DLH, Wright, Tarver, Pavlik, RJJ, Johnson, Taylor

Calzaghe: Kessler, Eubank, RJJ, Lacy, Hopkins.

    Do the Math.

Hopkins has fought a greater variety of opponents and beaten them. ANYBODY that claims that Calzaghe is greater, is a British "White" who's too patriotic to be honest with himself

Your logic means that Ken Norton > Ali, Marciano > Charles, and Jimmy Young > George Foreman

Do you agree with that above?

And if Calzaghe was still fighting today, this thread wouldnt even exist because he would have beaten all those you mentioned and made it clear that he is actually greater than Hopkins
But he retired, and Hopkins is still fighting creating a legacy that is historic and inspiring considering he is 46 years of age. Which is why it is impossible for me to regard Calzaghe above Hopkins
