Based on who they both beat and who knocked-them-the-****-out, I gotta go w/the Motor City Cobra aka the Hitman, Thomas Hearns.

Prime for Prime? If that is the case, RJJ was superhuman back in his day. Also RJJ had power in his prime that could really hurt Hearns.

I selected Hearns...he participated in the greatest 3 rounds in boxing history against Hagler.

His a multiple World Champion, and he fought everybody.

RJJ is great to, but Hearns was a part of more great moments in boxing history.

There accomplishments are close and very similar but Hearns fought the better opposition in doing so and has the better longevity that edges it for him.

Two of my favorites, I'm choosing Roy based solely on the fact that I met him once. They are both ATG's and amazing fighters who accomplished tons in the sport, and I like both styles, no matter how different.

    Tough choice though.

Hearns got knocked out by Barkley the guy has 20 fukking loses...

Hearns for whatever reason rarely did well vs the elite fighters. I remember my dad saying that it seemed as if Hearns choked in big fights.

both fighters were great, Jones was far more talented and skilled, and fair much better vs Elite comp, even if those fighters were not quite those that Hearns fought. Hearns only clear win over an elite fighter was vs Duran many felt that he lost to Benitez and Hill which were his other huge wins. On the flip side some felt that he beat leonard the second time. Jones won his major fights clean and dominated the guys. Jones never came close to losing a fight in his prime Hearns was lucky to get some wins in his Prime vs b level guys like James Kinchen and Ernie Singletary(his comeback fight after being KO'd by Leonard).

We dont know that yet.....Most of the greats that Jones has beatten are still active... what happens if Jones beat Calzaghe and hopkins beats Pavlik, Toney wins a heavyweigt belt.... too many active fighters left from Jones resume....And we dont know how many of the guys that Jones beat will make the HOF.. Could be three, could be six or seven. Hearns didnt beat a ton of HOF fighters only Duran and Benitez so far, and most likely Hill. If I was projecting I would say that Jones will have the edge in that stat. There is a shot that the following fighters will all make the HOF(click on fighter to see resumes)...Jorge Fernando Castro, Bernard Hopkins, James Toney, Vinny Pazienza, Mike McCallum, Virgil Hill, and Felix Trinidad, that is more then Hearns beat which are Wilfred Benitez, Roberto Duran, and Virgil Hill...Now I would say the odds of all those guys that Jones beat will get in arent very good...Hopkins, Toney, Paz and Trinidad are all shoe ins..McCallum and Hill should be and Castro has a shot.

RJJ is one of best fighters ever...

Thomas Hearns had a great resume despite his signature losses to barkley, SRL, and hagler...Hearns couldve easily beaten Sugar-Ray in the 1st match (he was up on the cards b4 getting pzd), and he simply got caught with a perfect shot vs barkley
