    I can agree with that
But the reach advantage for morales …
Although I do suppose once Marquez landed a nasty counter - that would be thrown out the window & all hell would break loose to an instant WAR classic.

    this is a fantastic thread!

Yeah I picked Márquez just to be different.

Marquez vs DLH would have been a great match up too!

Don’t think reach would have any bearing in this fight especially for a warriors type like Erik “ El Terrible” Morales.

I was gonna say Oscar in reality should have wins over both Tito and Mosely.

I don't normally say this for these type of threads but it's actually a very good question.

Morales IMO. He had wins over Barerra and Pacquiao in their primes.

Your post made me realize that he fought Chavez, Whitaker, Mayweather, Hopkins AND Pacquiao! That’s five unquestioned ATGs right there, with three of them in their prime. Then factor in guys like Trinidad, Mosley, Vargas, Quartey who were all in their primes.

This is a fantastic thread. Very difficult question, my gut reaction was to lean towards Oscar or Morales, but if you actually think about it, Marquez performed the most impressive of all - there is a case to be made (I am not saying I am making that case) that he defeated Pacquiao four times. I see the point that Morales would have been a stylistic favourite - pointed out by a few - but that is a hypothesis really. Not more tenable than saying Paul Williams would have defeated both Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Trinidad is the right answer, he only lost fighting out of his weight to Hopkins (MW), Wright (MW) and Jones (LH).

Exciting fighter that always came to fight and ended his career 42-3 with 35KO.

Morales was originally slated to fight Marquez in 2011,before Maidana replace an injured Marquez.I think Marquez would have knocked out that version of Morales in around 8 rounds and be winning the fight most of the way.
In their primes in 2004 it’s anyones guess who would’ve won.It simply couldn’t be anything less than a classic better than Marquez-Diaz 1.

Oscar made prime versions of Genaro Hernandez and Miguel Angel Gonzalez and a past prime but formidable Chavez look like trash, while winning belts in two division. He then had a first ballot hof career after accomplishing that with most of his signature fights. Morales wasn’t really on that level
