As the title asks. Who could he beat - any era?

Rough, I was being snarky because of the win over Pintor...

I'd make him favourite over the likes of Orlando Canizales, maybe Chucho Castillo. Both of those would be amazing fights.

Oh yeah. Well, it is pretty late here so my brain isn't 100% lol. I think I would actually pick him over Cani, but Chucho is another matter.

You know I live in the UK too. and speaking of the time, after this post I'm going bed.

Yeah, same. I think he'd show something similar to what McKinney did. Obviously Orlando was past prime, but the lack of ring-cutting was evident. Chucho would probably sneak his right hand through a crack he'd make in Davilla's defence, and exploit it enough to win.

It is definitely late, since you mean Jones, not McKinney!

Hard to say. Davila was unlucky to share the same era with monsters like Gomez and Zarate, plus being such a small fighter despite his great skills.
I can see him holding his own against the likes of Daniel Zaragoza, Wayne McCullough, Paulie Ayala, Gerry Penalosa, and Israel Vazquez.

I‘d say he would do pretty well if he were to fought today’s BW fighters not named Inoue.

Good thread. He could beat quite a few top guys if they weren't in their best form. Canizales is a good call. If he put in a Billy Hardy I type performance, Davila could and would out-point him. He always came at his best.

Ruben Castillo is another one in the same vein. He was even more unlucky. 4 title shots. The opponents? Arguello, Chavez, Sanchez, and La Porte.
