    I'd go Louis.

There are loads of reasonable answers though, including the ones you've listed.

I'm not joking when I say Roman Gonzalez is a candidate.

I doubt he was the best counter-puncher but Bill Richmond is often credited for having created the counter-punch.

Probably Louis just ahead of SRR and Ike Williams. Not mentioned yet are Ali, SRL, Hearns (bit more basic than others but effective and hard to stop), Whitaker, Pep, ODLH, Gavilan, RJJ and the likes. All superb combination boys. When fired up EMM was extremely impressive too.

I would add R.Leonard, R.Duran, prime Tyson and Holyfield early in his heavyweight run. Prime M.Mccallum. and a plethora of other fighters that used great combination punching. To try and pick the one greatest combo puncher in history is a very hard almost impossible task when considering the multiple weight divisions and long history of boxing.

At their primes they were top top ELITE boxer-punchers, capable of knocking a man out with either hand.

Both fighters are captured on film mixing up punches from body to head, knocking men out with either hand.

They are exactly what I would call excellence in combination-punching.

All excellent choices - I do feel like Ali was too simplistic in his consistency of punch choice to rank with these names. Although, difficult to stop once in full flow in his prime, the body mechanics of a SRR, Ike Williams, Duran, Hagler etc. in full flow, combined with their punch selections means I wouldn't put Ali up there in their same class.

I never liked ODLH as a combination puncher. I feel that he threw a lot of arm punches and received the benefit of the doubt on many punches that didn't land or landed with improper technique ala the Whitaker fight.

My top four would probably be Louis, SRR, Napoles and prime Duran.

Aaron Pryor, Salvador Sanchez, Orlando Canizales, and Meldrick Taylor threw some really nice combinations.

Look no further than the guy in my avatar.

I've never seen another fighter paw out his jab while circling on his opponent and than just jump in on them out of nowhere and throw a 5-6 punch flurry to the body. He didn't throw soft shots/throwaway punches either in his combinations; nearly every single one of his punches had bad intentions behind them.

Louis was a great combination puncher in his own right but Robinson's handspeed and superlative athleticism allowed him to put together combinations I've never seen any other fighter be able to emulate.

He really was a chameleon in the ring, he could fight in any style at an elite level.

Joe Louis could throw a 6 punch power combo like no one ever, I go with the Brown Bomber, SRR next and then Napoles if we are talking about those 3 there are others that were better than Naples as far as force who was smooth as butter

Of course he was a boxer puncher but one with great power.
He holds one of the greatest one punch knockouts of all time against the rock jawed Fullmer.
