Who is the Greatest Featherweight Post Nelson-Fenech? 4 ATG's being ranked in one divisionat one time...such a colorful era of 126 division
Hamed, he's so underrated. The guy unified the belts and beat everyone at the division for like 7 years. He loses to barrera and now people say he's nothing lol.
I'm inclined to agree> However, there are much better posters in this section than myself' who can dispute this and with a great explanation.
I always thought Marquez was the best, but that's purely subjective. None of these guys really distinguished themselves from one another at this weight. Although John is still in his prime, and we should probably wait and see what comes of his career first, before definitively judging him.
This comment might be labelled as biased simply because Im a well know Morales fan but IMO he was a better 126 lber than all those guys, they all had similar success at the weight, no real stand-out without splitting hairs so I go to the h2h & ability section, I believe Morales whups Pac anytime from their 1st fight backwards (that means 126 obviously), he DID clearly beat Barrera at the weight in any reasonable persons opinion, he`s to good a boxer overall to lose to naz + has the great chin to lessen Naz`s punchers chance & I feel his power, reach & ability to brawl at the drop of a hat if the boxing isnt going well sees him past JMM in a close 7-5 decision. Morales was a talented, tough fighter in his prime, so hard to beat & nobody ever had it easy vs him, even in an off night, I think he SHOULD but likely wont win this vote. :good
Got to be Barrera. he beat Morales two out of three. Beat Hamed. & an aging version arguably beat Marquez. In his prime Barrera was the MAN to beat in the Featherweight division.
If Barerra did beat Morales 2 out of 3 (debatable), it most certainly wasnt at 126 in their 2nd fight. Morales & Marquez would likely do likewise to Naz (not sure about Pac, he was kinda reckless at that stage)
It's not clear for any of them, but I'm actually going to vote for Pacquiao. I didn't think I would when I first read the thread, but his win over Barrera is better than anything the others did at the weight, and I personally had him beating Marquez in their first fight. Even though he only had 3 or 4 fights at 126, those two results are enough to give him the edge for me.
But the first Morales, Erik fairly handled him. while Morales still had some skills left. In two fights Marquez has won more rounds than Pacquaio.
Yes, in Pac's first fight at 130. It makes perfect sense to say that Morales beats Pac at 126 too, but he didn't, so it doesn't affect their ranking at the weight. Also, while he was certainly in decline, I think Morales clearly still had some skills left when Manny beat him in the 2nd fight. Marquez has won more rounds in their 2 fights, and Pac has scored 4 more knockdowns, they've fought to a virtual standstill twice now, I had Pac winning their first by a point or two, and Marquez winning the 2nd by a point. The first fight was the one at 126 though.
But at the same time, he also suffered the most embarrassing losses of the bunch, to Pacquiao and Jr. Jones.
