Just like Roy Jones hadn't faced anyone during his reign at 160-168 or when he began his LHW reign?

People said the same thing about Roy as they do now about PBF ...

Spinks was KO'd by Tyson in one round. That is his only accomplishment in the last 20 years. Everything else was done prior.

David Reid as well ... but those guys were rushed along ... Floyd was built for this since he was a little kid ... he's been boxing since he could walk a true student of the game and has shown great ring smarts throughout his career.

Unlike Jones - PBF has always been a good smart fighter in the ring ... he never allowed himself to rely so much on his physical attributes such as Jones and Sweet Pea ... he didn't have to be the strongest or the fastest fight .... he always made sure that he was the smartest ... quick thinking fighter. Thats what carried him to the fighter his is now ...

Roy relied on his speed and reflexes ... along the way he also showed the tendacy to take alot of unneccessary punches - but due to his speed he was able to rally.

Sweet didn't have much toward the end of his career and by the time he was Floyd's age (today) ... he had already lost ... Floyd hasn't lost yet. The same can be said about RJJ ... by the time he was in his early 30's he had already lost. (Montell Griffin DQ)
And even though it was a DQ ... it was still a valuable mistake he made and it cost him a blemish on his record.

Yes, to disprove your claims, but one as close-minded as yourself obviously will find a way to find fault in anything you make a pre-conceived notion about.

Anyone can make simple excuses about any fighter's resume, that doesn't make the excuses legitimate. And yours were certainly not.

Yes, and they both deserved it. But that said, Jones faced more champions and more top ranked contenders (at least Ring rated) than Mayweather has. To be fair, he has had more fights. But that didn't seem relevant when you were counting his losses at the end of his career against him.

    I answered your question.

And your retort proved my point. All these accomplishments don't have the value you believe them too. You immediately pointed out the deficiencies of Vargas. Your original point was to show how great an accomplishment Mayweather had accomplished, and as such this makes him a great fighter. The second you find out Vargas did it, you shoot him down....but doesn't that mean that now diminish your original point, since a not so great fighter accomplished the same feat?

6 titles in 5 weight classes? DLH has 6 weight classes and 8 titles. Hearns has 6. Jones has 6 titles in 4 weight classes. Whitaker as well.

    They really are not.

I happen to rate the likes of Hatton, De La Hoya, Baldomir, castillo, Judah and corrales very high (ok, not Judah). Many may not. But i do.

Again its down to personal opinion. I think PBF dominated these guys in a way that many other fighters on that list did not with their rivals. I will give you the exception of Sweet Pea and maybe my judgement between PBF and him is clouded by losses at the tail end of his career.

Much like Sweet Pea, I find myself in awe of PBF. I have witnessed him first had in sparring sessions (I am a gym owner and coach) and am amazed at his technique, skills, speed and footwork.

Closed minded? You seem to be biting the head off anyone that doesnt agree with you son.

I am far from closed minded. I just have a differing opinion.

Jones' career has spanned 20 years and counting ... Floyd has only been a pro 12 ... of course he's going to have more title fights ... Floyd has 20 in a 10 year reign ... and he's fought over 20 former/current champions to his credit and is still undefeated.

Damn the end of you post was good ... and I can't dispute that ...
