I like Walcott over Tyson and that would be an upset, he has a shot against Dempsey, he ALMOST( but almost is never a sure thing vs Marciano) beat Marciano and a less than prime Louis...Walcott was not top 5 but he could be a nightmare for anyone because of his slickness, sneaky pinpoint power, good footwork and jab. He has a shot to beat Ali as well, that is the type of fighter than trouble Ali as well. Walcott had a hell of a hook...Walcott was not a catcher but Louis hit him with a 6 piece and Marciano with a bomb, it only takes one snowball to start an avalanche....Foreman he could beat but JJW eratic but the spoiler of the division

Ali. I think Ali in his prime would beat him, but he's the kind of fighter that really could make Ali pay for any over confidence.

On his best night he was capable of upsetting just about anyone I feel.If he had Roxborough and Black guiding him and an alliance with Mike Jacobs he might have been the dominant Heavy ,but he was a bit inconsistant ,even allowing for the lack of direction in his career.

My upset pick is Foreman. George certainly has a good puncher's chance during the first 5 rounds (against anyway obviously), but Walcott was hard to hit clean and it's no secret that Foreman was troubled by skilled boxers with good chins.

Two other people picked Ali: it would've been interesting how he would've fared in the 70's. Could've pulled out wins over Ali and Foreman, though i don't see him beating Frazier.

well as Walcott picked Ali as being the greatest heavy it would be interesting to hear his views on such a fight happening. was he ever asked that question?

Ali Jersey Joe's physical strength, great left hook, very unorthodox and great defence make him a difficult style for Ali. Joe Louis said he felt Walcott would beat Ali.

Its wierd but I think a well-prepared Walcott could upset Tyson.

Louis, Ali. Walcott has a chance against Ali because he could make people hesitate, and that's one way to beat speed.

rocky marciano he could have beat had he been a little younger and luckier.

but he doesnt beat guys like tyson, ali, lewis, holyfield, liston, frazier etc when they are "on".

he´d have a shot only if one of those had an off night.

In theory jsut about any previous champ could upset any champ in history.

I do think Wlacott beat Louis fair in square, but was robbed in the decsion. So that is my pick.

If you want me to reach for an upset in a fantasy sense, I think Walcott would have a very good shot to beat Jack Johnson. IMO Walcott's footwork, defense and counter punching were a better, and Johnson himself was not agressive in general.

Well I think with Walcotts style he has a very good chance at being one of the few fighters in history who could beat a peak Ali. I also think Walcott would probably lose to a peak jack johnson due to styles, jack's style would throw walcott into a lethargic boring joey maxim type fight which was walcott's biggest weakness in his ability to get lazy at times and walcott wouldnt take his usual risks and just go into his walcott waltz the whole fight. When Walcott shows up to fight which he did in most of his big fights, he is good enough to beat anyone. Walcott had many tools on film that were off the charts, meaning most fighters in history didnt have them.

I think the only reason Joe Louis had problems with him the first time was he took him lightly looking at his record and all. I thorougly enjoyed watching Louis catch Walcott in the middle of his shuffle and plaster him with sledgehammer force. Joe Louis is one guy who took care of business, that's why he is a legend and Walcott is not.

Ali-Walcott is a fight that has intrigued me for awhile now and is a bad style match-up for Ali.
Walcott was a very skilled fighter with excellent power but his record can fool people. He often fought without having trained properly or even being fed well. A prepared Walcott is a dangerous fighter for anyone.

Walcott could upset anyone (except those people he would already be a favorite over).
