There is hardly a definite single pick for the greatest, as you could always argue otherwise.

Going through the eras, we got:

    Joe Louis
    Rocky Marciano
    Muhammad Ali
    George Foreman
    Larry Holmes
    Lennox Lewis
    Wladimir Klitschko

David Tua, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Vitali Klitschko, Tommy Morrison, Ray Mercer, Rid***** Bowe via intimidation, makes a good argument.

Marciano's only disputed win was the first fight with Roland LaStarza, because they used New York's "No Draw" scoring system. Basically, one judge had it for LaStarza, one had it for Marciano and one had it a draw.

The scoring system they used basically added up all the points, and Marciano came out on top. So people today say that by today's rules, Marciano would not have won.

But that's rubbish. That system did not award extra points for knockdowns. Marciano floored LaStarza in the fourth round. By today's rules, he would have got an extra point and the judge who had it a draw would have scored it for Marciano, giving him a split decision win.:deal
