Surprised people are voting for Tyson, he wasn’t an inside fighter at all. He was notoriously very lazy on the inside. All he ever did was hold and wait for the ref to break.
I would have put Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe on that list long before some of the others that are on there.
I'm going with Mike Tyson. I was going to choose Jack Dempsey but he fought better in outdoor stadiums.
A few that come to mind outside of Duran and Armstrong who would be the obvious choices for many. James Toney could find any shot at any point and was not scared to stand in there and bang it out. When he was on, he was probably the most accurate and toughest infighter ever. Skillwise he has to be the top for me. Catch and shoot master, could intercept you at a moment's notice. The Jirov-Toney fight is one of the best inside fights of all time. Jose Luis Castillo. Left hook dig, chopping/short right over the top: so effective. Just super crafty with left hand punching, and accurate when he was on. I liked watching him fight a lot. Castillo-Corrales I is the go-to example for a phone booth fight of all time. Watching him land consistently on the inside and outside vs. Mayweather was really something to see as well. Andre Ward is definitely one of the craftiest inside fighters ever and mastered elbow framing, forearm blocking, shoulder striking, glove trapping, using his head and body to move opponents around and just manipulating an opponent at close range. He was awesome at close range. Hard to hit, accurate, and had the deepest moveset of old school infighting since Toney. Kind of a Hopkins mentality with some Toney skillset, not as athletically gifted as Toney or Hopkins.
