Of course Torres supercedes Rickys win over Maussa (Cotto busted Maussa and Paulie up to) but I was trying to demonstrate Rickys good blend of wins. He has some solid names on the 2nd tier of his resume, Tackie, Phillips and Lazcano for example (shoddy 2nd half performance against a C+ fighter there) and, more importantly, has one of only two wins over a fighter widely tipped here as one of the best 140lbers of the last 20 years, who didn't look particularly bad that night, but was outhustled and battered by a massive underdog.

Cotto has some underrated depth to his 140 resume IMO, and of course he was a wrecking ball there, but I think Ricky has a similar consistency with a big defining win.

What you on about B'? The Khan thing was a gag of course, but my putting Ricky forward as a possible contender is entirely true. My plea to Al Francis, one of the most knowledgable guys I have ever come across, was genuine as well.

I am pretty mashed mind you, but you'd know if I was pissed, I get shockingly angry and type with reckless abandon without caring that people will have to indecipher it!

It can make for quite painful reading the next morning.

I forgot for a moment about Rickys shameless ducking of Junior Witter. I think he had a natural no.2, a domestic rival with a formidable style. If Ricky had taken that (and I wouldn't favour him to win, or at least I didn't when it was last mooted) and won it convincingly he actually would have a stellar case IMO.

Barrera was cut just months prior to the fight - The skin was still weak and the writing was on the wall the day the fight was anounced for a cut win for Khan.

Cotto had some of those handy wins too flea, maybe more with N'dou , pinto, chop chop, branco, bailey and the like perhaps missed out on the big defining win at the weight but i suppose he got that with mosely at 147. With common opponents, Cotto beat them as handily berfore Hatton did first guy to beat both Paulie and Maussa. Both very decent 140 careers in their own right.

Khans 140 run isnt bad at all aside from awful Salita. Though the Barerra fights irrelevent in this thread it was at 135
