I think Chavez is the most loved but I dont think he was the greatest its either Sanchez, or Finito Lopez. OK maybe greatest but certainly not the best.

Isn't JCC tarnished by his refusal to rematch Whitaker after seemingly losing but being gifted a draw, apparent refusal to continue fighting after getting cut against Randall so he could get a technical decision and quitting against De La Hoya the second time? All the while belittling his opponents who everyone else see as bested him?
Lopez never had any lucky breaks, or avoided anyone as far as I know, although his career wasn't as high profile.

Lopez also didn't face anywhere close to as good opposition as JCC, which is something few people are willing to concede. I love Lopez(he's one of my top 10 favorites probably), but his lack of opposition when he could've faced better(missed out on guys like Gonzalez and Carbajal) is a downside for him.

JCC opposition is overrated IMO and so were some of his wins. Lopez is the better fighter and would box circles around JCC P4P.

And you think this why? Because of how good Lopez looked against pressure fighters like Rosendo Alvarez? Was he better than Chavez P4P as well?

Lopez was past his prime by then, but Alvarez gave him hell through 2 fights, so I see no problem with the notion that Chavez's pressure and ability to cut off the ring would make it harder for Lopez to place his shots.

The bottom line is, there is absolutely no argument whatsoever in ranking Lopez's opposition anywhere NEAR JCC's. The only opposition between the two with any similarity would be JCC's first 50 or so opponents. Even if you consider Chavez's opposition overrated, it still runs laps around Lopez's. His ATG rating is based on his dominance, longevity, and quite simply, his boxing skills. JCC adds a resume to that.
