    Yes I too make that distinction but wasn't sure if you did.

    Going off my traditional definition and apparently yours also then yes of course mab was clearly not a prime fighter by the time he fought jmm whereas marquez in his last showing against kats did not look significantly worse than in his peak showings and I certainly would argue jmm is still operating at a prime level.

    Between the juarez fights and the jmm fight he didn't look as good as he did vs hamed and morales and in the lead up to the pac fight.

    Both were about the same removed from their peak but noone would call mab a prime fighter that night and, as you say, marquez could be described as a prime fighter today
