Is there anyone who got "screwed over" by inconveniently overlapping two decades? Just out of curiosity and discussion.

    Fullmer?
Wins over Pender, Basilio and Robinson in the 50's, wins over Basilio, Robinson and Fernandez, + draws with Robinson and Giardello in the 60's. I know he lost to Robinson also.

Some are not so high on Fullmer, but he was the best middleweight for 5 or 6 years from about 57'- 62', if you put him ahead of Robinson during that time frame, which I do.

    20's - Harry Greb
    30's - Freddie Steele
    40's - Charley Burley
    50's - Sugar Ray Robinson
    60's - Nino Benvenuti
    70's - Carlos Monzon
    80's - Marvellous Marvin Hagler
    90's - Roy Jones
    00's - Kelly Pavlik
    10's - Gennady Golovkin

To me the only ones which might sound controversial are Benvenuti and Pavlik.
Tiger is the only real blemish for Benvenuti, but he was more of a light heavy, and if Charles' wins don't take too much away from Burley, neither should Tiger's from Benvenuti.
Tiger is the only fighter I really could see over Benvenuti for the 60's, but Benvenuti shades it for me. Underrated fighter is Benvenuti.

Pavlik I choose not just because I don't like Hopkins.
Kelly made his debut in 2000 and bar the Hopkins loss, didn't lose at 160 for the next decade.
Supposedly Pavlik was ill for Hopkins, but let's not use it as an excuse.
Kelly has Taylor x 2, Miranda and Rubio. Knock on Kelly if you will, but the Taylor wins alone put him in the conversation with Hopkins for the 00's.
Throw in Miranda and Rubio and these are all great wins against very good, big and dangerous middles.
And we can't use the Martinez loss against him it being in 2010.
Hopkins has Joppy, but his record rests too much on Trinidad and Oscar in my opinion, great fighters p4p, but they weren't middles, I think Pavlik walks through them without getting much credit.

Yea, agree with all of your salient points, defo Darcy over Mcoy , maybe even Eddy Mcoorty could stake a claim.
Also can make a case for Fred Apostoli over Steele slightly;) rather like Freds answer when asked about his style of fighting " punchers seldom hurt me, I used to like getting in close and banging to the body " cut a handsome figure for a boxer. keep well.

Hagler was eyeing retirement before he even fought Ray. His only interest after that was in a Leonard rematch or he was done.

At this stage Tate had beaten precisely one contender. Tate then beat Sibson who Hagler had walloped half a decade beforehand. Sibson had been stopped twice in between fighting Hagler and Tate. Hagler would have been really shaking in his shoes at the thought of taking on Tate.

Kalambay didn't have a meaningful victory in the big scheme of things until post Hagler - Leonard and he'd been edged not long prior by Kalule. Hagler was long gone by the time Sumbu beat McCallum and it was just the start of McCallums foray into the higher weights.

    Ridiculous post.

I’m not sure Al McCoy was a top 20 Middleweight of the 1910s.
