As far as pure Boxers go, Tommy Hearns is up there. As in James Toney circa 90-93.

I voted for The Man in the poll. That would be SRR, of course.

    Pretty much this.

I'd go with Armstrong personally -- knocked off the top man in three divisions within a matter of 10 months, with several notable wins inbetween.

If you look at who he fought Greb wins this, his record is amazing

Robinson for ability and skills Langford close to Robinson aswell, and of course the old master Joe Gans his skill was unbelievable.

The question posed is best fighter P4P J. Did I include Jack Dempsey as my top six .??? No. So why chastise me ? I included Greb, Robinson, Benny Leonard [Robby's equal as a LW], Langford, Armstrong, and ole Fitz...
P4P a heavyweight as 215 pound Ali was, wasn't as good all around as a Sugar Ray Leonard ,who could do as a WW more than Ali because of his "sharper"
punching...If Clay/Ali was not charismatic as he was, he wouldn't be called
"the greatest HWT of alltime" IMO. A chap named Joe Louis has that distinction...Louis eviscerated his division for 12 years, leaving his opponents prone on the canvas...Ali did not do this, though Ali had better
    opposition...Cheers...

You never mentioned Armstrong, although im sure it was just an easy oversight. Ive no beef with the fighters you picked, none whatsoever, but i do find it strange that you pick Dempsey as an HM (which you DID, just check your post) and omit Ali. Im not chastising you, just an honest observation my good man.

Probably because Dempsey was better 'pound for pound', beating up much bigger men etc.
