I mean everybody knows i'm a big Roy Jones fan. But choosing between these fighters are very hard. Very hard.

Obviously if he had gotten the Chavez and Oscar fights it would be Whitaker without question. I can't remeber who i had winning Oscar/Whitaker though, have to watch that again.

Rosi aside, I have to go with Whitaker. Higher level of competition than Roy. Roy was tantalizing but too often performed against guys with whom he could get away with outlandish ****. Still, it's a race because Roy was superlative.

I'd probably have to go with Roy although DLH probably deserves to be on the poll if there was one...at the very least. In fact, I'd go so far as to say Golden Boy is probably more deserving of consideration than Evander.

The DeLaHoya omission aside...I also think Hamed would be in the discussion if he had beaten Barrera...of course Hamed would never have beaten that version of Barrera so it's sort of like saying, "Had Duran beaten Hearns, he'd be considered the greatest fighter p4p ever"...

RJJ was more exciting and did more to attract fans during that time.

ODLH should be on that list, and I would put him second behind RJJ.

I always felt that De La Hoya recieved gift decisions against Ike Quartey and Whitaker. He also beat some name fighters but some were past prime by a long shot.

But I'm biased towards De La Hoya, I view him as greatly overated. Most don't i think.

I give the distinction to Roy Jones.

Yes Whitaker had a slightly better resume; but Jones has had more dominant performances in addition he was far more relevant over the course of the decade as the top p4p fighter

    Agreed.

Pea, RJJ, Holyfield and maybe a case for Oscar Delahoya.

at first when i was going thru your list, i'm like WTF this is your list for ATG ever? But then i kind of thought no this can't be and i figured it was your list for greatest fighters of the 90's....

Anyways, did u actually do this yourself? I mean good job for going thru 100 boxers, but the list is very bad.

I was fortunate enough to be at both fights. I thought DLH won them both and I was scoring. And I don't really like Oscar. I have rewatched both on video and it has only reaffirmed what I saw. For what it's worth...

Still, Quartey is not in the conversation and Whitaker was on the downside.

Got to go for pernell whitaker . He's the only fighter of the era i can see beating the all time greats at his weight (maybe Lewis if he packed his chin ) he was unhittable .
