Who did Floyd ever fight that could have beaten ODLH? Name someone.

Could Floyd have beaten Hopkins, a loaded up Trinidad, prime Mosley, Quartey, sweet pea? No ****ing way he goes thru them without a loss or five.

Difficult question, switch resume's and they might be in the same position with Oscar being undefeated and floyd having some losses.

    Hopkins@158lbs no

There's nothing to suggest Trinidad was 'loaded up' but yes Floyd could and would beat him IMO

No version of Mosley beats Floyd, he's just too limited and like Trinidad struggled with pure boxers.

    Quartey - YES

The faded old close to shot version Oscar beat Floyd would beat him also.

You make some damn good points. ODLH probably does go through May's resume undefeated and we agree the opposite is not possible.

The question is then "Could Mayweather have fought ODLH's fights (same time/place/weight) and had fewer losses?" That's tough.

His most likely chance to do so would be to outpoint a prime Mosley in one of the two matchups. That is do-able, but no guarantee.

Right.. the Floyd that was staggering around the ring v Corley and a shot to **** Mosley just walks right thru Quartey, a Mosley who could and would hit him more than once and eats Trinidad's shots like they were nothing huh? LOL

The only legit debate is who was the better LW. There's absolutely no question that Mayweather gets his head knocked off by ODLH's comp at welterweight.

Yea I agree that Floyd wouldn't have his 0 if he fought Oscar's competition. BUT I don't think he would have six loses either.

    Oscar shouldn't have 6 either.

The deciding factor for me as far as greatness between the two is that Oscar sought out and fought the toughest comp he could find. Floyd did exactly the opposite. If he values his safety and his 0 above his legacy, that's fine, but he can't expect to be ranked above guys of equal skill who fought with their legacy in mind every time they stepped in the ring.

That's what you say when you run out of anything worthwhile to respond with. I'm not even that big of an ODLH fan, but this poll is an insult to the sport of boxing.

You have me on board with every statement except "equal skill." There is no question ODLH has the bigger heart/balls/legacy, but Mayweather will be remembered as one of the most skilled men to ever enter the ring; in part due to the lack of big tests on his resume leaving his skill and behavior as his memorable traits.

No question he has ATG skill, but I don't put him up with RJJ, SRL and guys like that. He's been buzzed by some fairly pedestrian opposition, ducked some non-HOF opponents, went life and death with Castillo in their first fight. Castillo is HOF material but falls short of ATG status imho.

In a way, Floyd has been correct, his 0 has helped him immensely when it comes to making money. If Floyd had stepped up to Cotto, Margo, Kostya etc when they were good and he was sporting 3 or 4 L's then maybe we're not talking about him as some guy with this sublime skill level. We'd be talking about him more realistically as a very very good but beatable fighter.

If ODLH had carefully selected his opponents and gone undefeated like Floyd has then we'd be able to exaggerate his greatness as well, but that's what happens when you walk into the fire over and over. Sometimes you get burned.

Oscar skill isn't equal to Floyd. If Oscar is rated over Floyd, why was Floyd rated the second best fighter of the decade? Come on now. Floyd has fought and beat good opposition. 16 world champs on his resume. 20-0 in title fights. A 3 time lineal champ. If Floyd keeps fighting he will have beaten 19 to 20 world champs.
