He could beat some of the great Light Heavyweights who moved up to Heavy, like Moore, Tunney, Bivins, and so on, not that I would necessarily favor him over any of them. I wouldn't pick him to beat any really good natural Heavyweight.

I'd give him a chance against Tunney, Charles and anyone who turned pro before Jack Dempsey. Favourite? Not sure about that.

Jack Johnson, Dempsey and maybe Marciano. Bare in mind he had the best combination of speed, power, accuracy, reactions and defence that any of them ever faced. None of them are outboxing him

Maybe not, but most, if not all of them would score a knockout and hurt Jones very badly once some serious HEAVYWEIGHT leather connected. And Jones would most certainly not survived against the three you mentioned, especially Marciano.

In trying to land serious leather they could be counter punched and ko'd themselves. Both Dempsey and Johnson were ko'd by men the size of Jones. All of Jones LHW opponents were 180-190lb men in the ring, so he isn't in new territory size wise

Jones chin also isn't as bad as advertised until he hit 35. He took countless flush punches from Tarver in their first match, took flush punches from Ruiz who put Holyfield down, took flush punches from Sosa who Toney said was the biggest puncher he ever faced

How is Johnson going to KO Jones when he isn't aggressive and doesn't throw many punches?

Getting hit by the men you've mentioned pales into insignificance compared to the deadly power he would be the recipient of vs nearly all the great heavies of the past. Jone's foray into the heavyweight ranks was limited to a bout with Ruiz...a slop tossing mediocrity compared to the top ten of the heavies of his own time and place, nevermind the past. A win over a nonpuncher like Ruiz and then a return to 175 allows you and other Jones fans to perpetuate the myth that Jones would be able to negotiate the firepower of all the other heavyweights he never got around to meeting. You take the best of Tarver and Johnson and multiply it..that would be the effect that, Dempsey, Louis, Marciano Patterson, Frazier, Foreman (!!), Norton, Quarry, Tyson Lewis and lest I remind you...either Klitschko would have on Jones suspect beard. Speed would get him only so far..until something collided on Jones' chin.

Why are you assuming Dempsey and Johnson's chins won't get cracked first? Plenty of LHWs went the distance with both men, so neutralising them is certainly plausible. Dempsey got knocked out by Flynn, couldn't KO Gibbons, got outboxed by Miske (and maybe lost), lost to Meehan multiple times. None of those were nearly as good as Jones and Gibbons was a smaller man than Jones. As for Quarry he just doesn't have the power, he couldn't crack Patterson or Jimmy Ellis and lost to both, his most similar opponents to Jones. If Jones fights the same Louis that showed up against Conn, he wins

Jones wouldn't win against the Louis that fought Marciano.

If Quarry could deck Patterson, ko Shavers, ko Scrapiron Johnson with one punch, knock Thad Spencer down twice, then he would have ko'ed and seriously hurt Jones. All these men had better, proven heavyweight mandibles. Jones was rattled even by Ruiz..and Ruiz dosen't compare to Quarry as a puncher.
The difference between Jones and Conn is that Conn had a much better chin. To say that Quary lacked power is ridiculous..he may not have frontlined the power of Foreman, Frazier, Louis, etc., but but we're talking about his power relative to proven heavyweights..all with better beards than Jones. It all boils down to an equation...heavyweight power + Jone's chin = ko defeat for Jones...no matter how physically gifted and fast he was. Keep trying PP.
