You mean when Floyd fought him? He was long time legitimate contender however not the fortune one, finally he beat champion in Judah, and good fighter in Gatti ... don't see your point why he should be irrelevant? The point about Floyd being not relevant is that in the last 3 years he fought OScar, blown up Hatton then he retired for two years and after come back he fought barely 135 lb in Marquez ... that makes Floyd totaly irrelevant to the current state of WW division since none of Oscar, Hatton or Marquez is seriously fighting at WW.
You fool. What does "the man" mean? He could mean anything by that. That's why we've got 16 threads of arguing........ Mosely has the best wins at the weight, if that's your definition of "the man", then no arguements from me. He's the man. It's not even debatable. For once we agree Rooney.:happy
Cory Spinks became the man when he beat Mayorga, who beat Vernon Forrest, who beat Shane Mosley who beat Oscar. Then, Zab became the man when he snatched it from Spinks in the rematch, then lost it to Baldomir who lost to Floyd. Floyd retired, giving up the title, that Shane and Cotto fought for, after Cotto beat Shane he became the man, lost that title to Margarito, who then lost it to Shane. Shane is the man. Damn, Shane has been fighting to be the man and remain the man at welterweight for a long ****ing time now. Props to him.
its not about best wins.:nono its about who is the man at WW:rofl the guy above explained it best:deal
Yeah but if the title of "the man" is directly transferable like the poster described, it means at one point Baldomir was "the man" at welterweight. To me if you're called "the man", you gotta be the guy to beat, as in the Klits are the guys everyone wants to beat to make a name for themselves at heavyweight and seal their legacy. Did that sound like Baldomir, even after he beat Judah? Suppose Floyd said "**** Baldomir, I'm fighting Margarito" and he beat Marg. What happens then? Is Baldomir still the man cuz he beat Judah? One belt per division, and the best fighting the best solves the question.
He then retired, removing his linear champ status and hasnt fought a welterweight since. JMM does not count as a welterweight.
it's shane for me. but what's amusing is pac had only a couple more votes more than floyd when it should be pac just behind shane. there is more of a case for pac to be number 1 at welter by beating cotto just because shane is not as active after he beats margo than floyd being at #1 or 2. what do these 30+ voters think when when floyd beat jmm at welter? this is fanboyism at its finest.
Ha, I love how Pimp c's ******ed ass just tosses out a bunch of random insults, completely avoids the logic, and then tells someone they have no credibility.
There shouldn't be a single ****ing vote for Pac or Floyd. It just goes to show you how delusional both fan bases are. And that there are more delusional *******s than delusional *****s. Pac ain't fought a single ****ing Welter at 147. Not a single one. Floyd ain't fought one in years. There is no ****ing 2nd place.
Thats not the case here buddy...To be fair...people acknowledge Mosley as the #1 guy now...The whole argeument is that Floyd back in 2006 was considered the man of the division...in which LuKe-Ho refuse to acknowledge it...Hell, you've even admitted it yourself a couple of post ago...Nobody is saying that Mayweather is the man now...Everybody is giving that #1 spot to MOsley and rightfully so!
no. some people can consider pac just because he beat cotto who was considered #2 or #3 at the weight when pac beat him while shane was too inactive at the weight after margo fight. so pac has a case really. as for floyd, i don't see how beating jmm at welter puts him back at the top after 2 years of retirement.
