Who is the more accomplished heavyweight: Frazier or Liston?

Certainly Frazier accomplished more, but you left some of Liston's best wins off the list in Folley and Williams.

 

Did Frazier really accomplish more? Liston and Frazier both beat about the same level of competition, except liston beat much better punchers and dominated his top opposition more.....

 

Except Liston could not hold on to the title unless he defended against a glorified middleweight. He also fought during the era of supremely untalented, unskilled fighters like Williams, Machen and Foley.

You can spin this anyway you like, but no fighter has garnered more over-appreciation for having beaten lesser fighters than Liston has.

The only thing untalented here is the quality of that post. When I watch film of those 3, I see large amounts of Talent.

I will put my bit in later ,just a quick observation ,a prime Liston tears the arse out of Bonavena,who gave Frazier all he could handle.

I think Cleveland Williams was maybe a contender, but it depends on who's ratings you go by.
Henry Clark was arguably a contender too, his claim certainly far better than Jimmy Ellis's in 1975, and arguably as good as Manuel Ramos's in 1968.

 

Bethea was something special. An absolute nightmare styles wise, he lost a lost of close decisions that could of gone his way.

 

Machen and Folley unskilled and untalented? Is this a wind up?
